Congratulations to both BT and Prahran on making the GF and on promotion to Div 1. Expect Prahran, being so experienced in finals, to put up a very good fight this Sunday, however favour BT to win by 19 points. They have been the best team all year and deserve to put the trophy in their cabinet...
Jerry/Chips how many boxes of tissues have you gone through tonight? Well and truly beaten today. Hope the "great man" is ready for another year in Div 2.
Flag is on the Ants trophy rack so only interest now is who will be joining them in Div 1 next year. I favour PA over Eltham
Jerry were you at East Caulfield on Saturday? I was an interested observer for first time. Sorry I didn't catch up for the hot dog I owe you Johnny.
While Parade didn't have much to play for they were well and truly beaten by Monash. Boundless (sorry Boundy) very ordinary and well held. Not sure...
Very quiet without Monash posters. Johnny whats going on? Run out of opinions? Will the gryphs go out with a bang or a whimper against Parade this week?
Must say I was surprised to see Parade's win. Maybe the big preseason by the Ants made them look better than they really are (though Prahran did the same in D3 last year and were able to maintain the effort). May have to rethink Ants v Turtles or 2 Blues GF.
Has the finals venue been selected...
You just have to admire the boundless optimism of Monash supporters. I kind of hope they can pull off a miracle and make it however that will not happen.
I predict Parade to be the first ones out of the finals race. It's ok to stop teams scoring but you have to make an impression at the other...
It would appear the Monash yo-yo's (is there sponsorship potential there) aren't the only team having consistency issues.
Eltham might just have the game plan to defeat a rebounding Bulleen. 1 to 2 goals
Come the end of the season Monash will rue the day they lost to Emmaus earlier this year and...
Another interesting round just passed. SMD not only winners but easily. Did they have ant sand spread all over the ground? Something frightened Bulleen.
Gryphs are "technically" still alive rosejam and johnny with a good win over Therry. However needing to win all 3 remaining games including Old...
Agree arthur a bit quiet. Also agree with your tips.
Eltham by a lot over Emmaus who are real relegation candidates.
Bulleen to be too strong for SMD and at thier home ground by a considerable margin.
Therry over Monash by 15 points. Too much to play for. Being 4 points out of the for is...
Only surprise with the results were some of the margins, especially given the weather. With the exception of a feint hope for Therry the 4 looks to be set. The Therry v Monash game this week will see if Therry can keep that hope alive. With the Gryphs coaches' jobs on the line (according to...
Just as the top 4 seems to be set we get a little twist each week. Will the same happen again this week? A couple of very important games again.
SMD to defeat St Marys by 12 points. Like the bold game plan of the Saints but they aren't experienced enough to pull it off week in and week out...
Mustard and sauce on the hotdog as well johnny? An up week for the gryphs. Have to keep it going for 5 more weeks. Don't believe they can do it.
Agree Therry certainly didn't do you guys any favours either which makes the Prahran v Monash and Eltham v Parade games very interesting indeed...
Agree not easy to name top 10 and impossible to get concensus. A couple more names for the mix. What about West (St Mary's) and Baranello (Emmaus)? Not in good teams but stand out regularly.
Being named in the best doesn't always mean a player is in the best. Some clubs can be a bit tricky with...
Journalistic abilities/inabilities of the scribe aside the next round has 2 crucial games with potential to either seal the top 4 or open up the race for 4th. I'm predicting the top 4 will be confirmed after Saturday.
Easy games first.
Emmaus to be too strong for La Trobe - 25 points
SMD to fall...
Not an impossibility johhny however highly unlikely. Would be one of those "up" performances Monash sometimes produce. Also would only add to the heartache of not making the 4 because form is way too inconsistent and as such could lose to anyone else, including SMD.
Weekend results went as most predicted apart from margins, though a couple were spot on. Quasi seems to have a line through the form getting the BT/Monash result spot on. Obviously has a line on Monash form as well with the comment that La Trobe were better and Monash terrible. johhny also on...
Agree re boring side Arthur. Appears regular posters have been told to pull their heads in, maybe by their clubs. Didn't think johhny could restrain himself, though he hasn't had a lot to crow about in recent times (apart from Prahran win)
This week:
Eltham over 2 blues by 12 points. Not sure...
I stand corrected. 5 minutes, no minutes not much difference. Why did Eltham allow St Marys to have 2 loose men in defence? That tactic is easily countered.
Winners as per tips however a couple of margins a surprise.
Eltham by 47 however St Marys losing their main goal scoring option Autio in first 5 minutes made Eltham's job that much easier.
Bulleen by 7 points. Missing a couple of stars certainly brings them back to the field.
Monash by 2 points...
Tips this round and just to please TerryS will include margins
Eltham over St Mary's quite easily (65 points). St Marys too soft.
Bulleen to account for Therry by a comfortable 38 points, especially if a couple back from injury
Monash to defeat La Trobe on the big ground by only 28 points. Can't...
Almost on the money with tips and margins, except for Monash.
Therry jumped Emmaus in first quarter, then just hung on
The yo-yo Gryphons have done it again, easily accounting for St Marys. Almost impossible to get a line on their form.
As predicted Eltham way too good for La Trobe.
Parade got...
This forum is like talking to myself. Wife says I'm good at that anyway.
This week:
Therry to keep pushing for the 4th spot and defeat Emmaus in a close one.
Eltham to account for La Trobe easily.
St Marys to upset injury plagued Monash and ruin any chance of a top 4 finish for Gryphons
Old...
Work commitments over the next 2 days means I have to post tips today. Apart for 1 game it appears to be a bit of a lop sided round.
Eltham to easily account for Emmaus.
Monash (sorry Johnny I am on the band wagon) to defeat Paradians on the postage stamp. Even a short passing game will get them...
Johnny I have to eat humble pie. Not only a win but a convincing one at that. I don't think having Pell would have got PA much closer either. What was the difference this week? Had to be more than simply home ground advantage.
All quiet on the Div 2 forum. Don't you like the new format or have clubs put the foot down on posting opinions. As I have no allegiances Tips for this weeks round are:
PA to account for Monash. The weather and Monash's game plan will determine the margin. If Gryphs kick long they will be in it...
Interested spectator at Therry v Gryphs. Home team did it again. Fluffed around in first half and were down and out. Went direct in 2nd half and should have got the chocolates. When will they learn?
Might as well have a go at Round 7.
Monash v Therry : Therry if Monash persist with short passing game
St Mary's v Emmaus: Based on performances to date Emmaus
Old Parade v Eltham: This will test whether my theory about Eltham is correct. They should win however the margin will depend on how...
Not being picky Johhny but game plans evolve, need to to stay ahead of the pack. St Kilda got to a couple of grand finals using a particular game plan but have had to change as other teams have countered it. Maybe Monash need to do likewise. Last I will say on the subject.
Have been sitting back reading posts and getting to a few games. Time to make some comments. Stating the obvious but BT and Prahran certainties for finals and probably Eltham. Battle for the 4th (&maybe 3rd) spot a good one. So far the teams in contention for this have been up and down like the...
