Schoenberg’s career is already over. Might get a game if 6 mids are simultaneously injured in 2025. Emphasis on “might”. Even then, he’s delisted in October 2025. Ridiculous that we bothered keeping him on the rookie list over picking up a ruck IMO.
Chayce as a mid is a laugh. Not sure why...
The way I see the potential trade up to pick 2 is that Hamish has a clear top 3 (impossible to know what order we rank them in, but Lalor, Draper and Smith are the players) in “tier 1” of this draft, and now that Carlton are seemingly preferring Draper over FOS, we are worried that our top 3...
Just a vibe with FOS not leaving Vic. No info on this from anywhere. Gut feel, reinforced by West Coast’s willingness to essentially give him up. Could be wrong.
5 if you include Worrell. 🤯
Langford will probably have a really nice career, but at a surface level, analysing only the physical / athletic traits and strengths and weaknesses of each potential draftee, it’s somewhat of a nonsense selecting Langford for OUR list over both Jagga and Sid IMO...
I completely agree with this logic surrounding it not making much sense to pick Langford, and it’s exactly this which makes me think we will therefore pick Langford.
Haha no, honestly I think all signs now point to Draper being our guy.
I don’t think Carlton will take Draper - it just reeks...
As far as the actual trade period goes we did very well IMO.
Bringing in Cumming as a FA was a great get, and I think the injuries he suffered in 2024 probably helped us get him over the line more than anything. Played over 60 games in the 3 years leading up to 2024. Is not injury prone...
I agree that we haven’t developed Jones well at all, but we selected him ahead of a future hall of famer in Butters who played in essentially the same position as Chayce as a junior. If you reverse the clubs / development staff, does Butters turn into a state league player at Adelaide and Jones...
I’m not one for bumping my own posts but was having a look back through the evolution of this thread and had to laugh at this rant from me back in August 2022. Guessing Ned must have just had a shocker 😂
Imagine this scenario: Lalor falls outside the top 10 in the draft due to lingering injury concerns and clubs opting to take the “safer” picks like Langford, Draper, Smith, Lombard, Ashcroft, O’Sullivan and maybe even a couple of Smillie, M Reid, Lindsay, Armstrong, Berry and Travaglia. Shock...
Aliir Aliir “couldn’t get a game” at Sydney.
D’Ambrosio was a bargain pickup.
Sam Durham, Tom Stewart, Tim Kelly, and Shaun Mannagh couldn’t get a list spot anywhere in the AFL for years on end, let alone a game.
Maybe, just maybe, some players who haven’t set the AFL world alight yet...
Different teams have different strengths.
There will be top 4 teams adding players from other teams who aren’t wanted or needed as much, because said team has a strength in that area.
You’re entitled to your opinion on Peatling, but I’d suggest maybe watching him play a bit first. There’s a...
Unlike you, I’ve seen plenty of Peatling before today so I don’t need to thanks.
But I’m sure you sat down and watched the full 2.5 hours of this game today and can tell us all about it.
Peatling got 10 coaches votes in a game against Brisbane at the Gabba and is one of the most sought after players in the league right now.
If he was at our club in 2024 he would have played far more full time football and was purely a victim of circumstance. When given the chance, he shone...
Because most weeks he’s in the reserves or the sub, due to GWS having the likes of Tom Green, Coniglio, Kelly, Bedford, Daniels, Callaghan, and a surprisingly resurgent Cal Ward running through there. Whitfield also has the ability to roll through there but is currently probably the best half...
I wonder if Giants VFL and Development coach Wayne Cripps would be someone we’d look at. It would appear as though he’s increasingly highly thought of.
Might line up with the mysterious off-field link to Peatling…
Not sure we can hang shit on the AFL for the excellent performance of Ex-Lion sperm.
The father/son rule is great IMO. 90s and 00s Crow sperm? Historically awful to this point.
Agree with those list needs, and i think it’s pretty obvious that our first pick in the draft should be a mid, and our second pick (wherever that ends up falling) should either be a small forward or a ruck. The volume of small forwards in the top 50 or so of this particular draft suggests to me...
I didn’t pick Smith in my 2024 Round 1 team because the writing was well and truly on the wall for him based on his last 2 months of 2023, and this time I’m not going near Laird in the 2025 Round 1 team for the same reason.
B: Hinge - Keane - Worrell
HB: Cumming - Murray - Michalanney
C...
Stoked to get Cumming. He was my number one (realistic) target this offseason, as I think our combo of attacking half back flankers and wingmen are among the worst in the league. Big list need. Genuine speed and a lethal kick. Can actually lay a tackle too unlike a lot of outside leaving...
Good get by Port here as it addresses a clear list need. With Dixon retiring, Marshall’s career a bit up in the air due to concussions, Ratugolea being horrendous at football, Finlayson with some pretty hectic external factors likely affecting his career moving forward and even the likes of F...
Clearly literacy isn’t your strong point. The comparison was clearly relevant in the context of what was being discussed, which was the choices that Lukosius and Cumming are currently weighing up.
But you’d have to actually read the relevant posts to know that.
