But that was the glory of '99. We were never meant to make it to the GF at all.
* were considered a shoe-in for the '99 flag, but by winning the prelim, we tore up the script.
Our victory was in denying *.
Massive hypocrisy, given they were also serial cap offenders and are distinguished by the fact that they won a flag during a year they were found to have been in breach. Why were they never stripped of that flag?
If you don't feel a particular rivalry with * I'm guessing you must be a youngster. Under 20 at least.
Apart from that, it's just fun to take the piss out of them.
I nominate... (cue drumroll)... John Barker, the great survivor!
He's on his fourth senior coach at the club, isn't he? Fifth if you count John himself.
A tribute to resilience, persistence and to making oneself part of the furniture.
He's like a public servant, isn't he? Governments come and...
Maylin was smuggled onto the field as a surprise inclusion in his Round 1 debut against Collingwood in 1980. Had an excellent debut with 19 possessions and a goal, as we spanked the Pies by about 6 goals. I remember it fondly as I had endured a week at school of Pies fans telling me how "Carlton...
And it speaks far more about the Adelaide footy scene, that a star junior like Lukosius would rather stay the course with the bottom ranked team, far from his home town, than return to play his footy with an Adelaide club.
Say there was a promising second year player playing for Kane's old...
Had to smirk at this: our good mate Kane displaying his saltiness over Jack Lukosius re-signing with the Suns.
Kane Cornes is salty because Jack Lukosius has chosen to stay at Gold Coast
Seriously, this bloke's gall knows know bounds. Luko indicates that he doesn't want the added pressure of...
Yeah, pretty cringe-worthy when someone starts with that kind of patter.
Why should we want any favours from the AFL anyway? We'll get there on our own thanks. Sooner or later... I said... sooner... or later...
Club best and fairest at age 20. Club captain at age 21, but never led the team due to his knee injury. Horrible to see such a promising career ruined, just when it was taking off.
And to cap it off, a promising coaching career cut short by MND! :(
It's awful. Neale must wonder what he did in...
I thought of this and I think it's a question of character and work ethic. The ones who have it will want to work hard and do well at whatever road they take. The ones who don't probably wouldn't get drafted anyway, or if they did, would not last long in the AFL system.
Sorry, does that sound...
See, that doesn't make sense to me either. You'd think that if VCE exams were a consideration, they'd have the draft done and dusted well before the exams, so potential draftees who are sitting their VCE can just focus on their exams and not still be sweating on the draft.
I wonder what the kids...
