In my time the footy boots would go away post GF and the cricket bats came out. Often the same coaches and certainly the same players. That was and is community football at Rochester.
Problem is this big club called Echuca have changed the rhythms of summer. Rather than bat and ball they are...
Totally agree Swoop. I know Rochy have been chasing a big ruckman for years as they come with a high $$ value. You only have to look at Morris in the GF. And Holland obviously a Morrison medal winner. The two best in the comp last year. Your bloke probably third best. You look back at blokes...
Which league Ringo? Are we talking Goulburn Valley or Geelong?
All the more reason to get rid of salary caps and tighten up points. Points is where you stop the mercenaries.
Do you think this and the potential entry of Moama changes the landscape?
Personally, I think Moama MUST come into the GV to dry up the phenomenal amount of juniors Echuca are drawing upon. A town the size of Echuca/Moama must have two teams in the GVFL. With a higher salary cap I am certain...
Might beat Tatura or Benalla. But that's it.
That said, with their facilities (way better than Echuca currently) and the right coaching I suspect they might be a powerhouse in 10 years.
Echuca/Moama needs two teams in the GV. The rivalry would be awesome.
I know Kay was approaching some Rochy blokes but you reckon the club might seriously look at extracting a few of Echuca's twos players. Watched them twice in finals and many would play seniors at other GVFL clubs. Not sure who the powerbrokers are at Elmore or how much $$$ they have.
Mellington kicked 95 for Benalla in the GV in 2015 prior to your statistics. Grenfell was at Seymour around the same period playing mainly in the ruck.
GV goals tell the story. Mellington is a far better FF. Also a far bigger flog
Yep well said Passenger.
Kudos to Echuca and their 'whole club' program. That is one very strong Echuca Reserves side, however interesting after 4 ×20 min quarters all season ... come finals suddenly 'time on' is added in the 3rd and 4th qtrs. A couple of those quarters in the 18's and Reserves...
