Cant see primetime FNF happening in NSW/QLD unless if the Swans or Lions are playing on Friday Night.. which would be 3-4 times this year at least.
The best time for non-lions/swans games would be 9:30pm imo (IF SEVEN are WILLING to risk it). But can't see it go any earlier than 10:30pm.
It may change in 2007 with one of the FNF games being live at 7:30pm, followed by a delayed game at 9:30pm. The case is likely that a Sydney game would be live in Brisbane, and a Queensland game live in Sydney. That's unless if one of the games (example Brisbane Broncos -v- Bulldogs in...
Seven was lucky this year with US Imports. Although some cutting across the board (already started with TT being merged into a Sydney based program, and rumours of Australian drama being cut) would be one of many ways to recoup the costs of the 2007-2011 AFL rights
Jacques can also play middle order, as evidenced by his stint in county cricket. So dont be suprised if he bats anywhere between 4 and 6 sometime down the track...
The reason why there is so many "brett lee haters/critics" is because of his poor record since 2001 (which includes 3 year period of averaging a touch under 40 with the ball), and in addition some of his "fans" making excuses on BF..
After he had a good series against the WI, I was one of...
Nope.. as long as Langer is making run while fit.. there is no need to drop him, especially with no other openers "knocking" on the door at the moment.
Hussey has the mind to go on with it, As for Symond's case tommorow if he comes in with Australia (say 5/100-150) he'll be under pressure to pretty much build a innings rather than his last innings which was more of the one day stuff.
Australia would still likely be winning matches, but will be much weaker leading to more competitive matches between sides once the likes of McGrath, Gilchrist, Hayden, Langer and Warne retire..
It'll be interesting how this turns out... 2 spinners + Symonds dual mode as medium pace/off spin + Lee + McGrath. Flexibility in the attack there, especially with Symonds coming off his first "best" test match..
3rd Test - Australia v South Africa @ SCG (Mon 2 - Fri 6)
Assuming Langer comes back, I'd say Bracken is still going to hold drinks with Jaques going back to NSW. So I'm reckon its the same squad with the only change being Langer for Jaques.
Squad
Justin Langer/Phil Jaques
Matthew Hayden...
Pollock is more of a bowler that can actually bat, Kallis is the Saffies genuine 'All-rounder'.
To Pollock's credit, he has more claim to the all-rounder status than the current crop the Aussies have at the moment.
Lee has improved, but with his inconsistency he hasnt turned the corner yet. To his credit, its the first time Lee has had a good home summer since four years ago.
Re: Who should bat at #6 during the tour of South Africa?
As I said, he may not be as versatile as M Hussey. Most has only heard of him opening, but to Jaques credit, he has batted at 4 in County Cricket.
So I wouldnt be suprised if he does get a second go in the test team at some stage...
Re: Who should bat at #6 during the tour of South Africa?
I put in Cosgrove at the time of vote, but in light of Symonds recent efforts its increasingly looking likely that Symonds has booked his spot for the South African tour.
Personally though I'd have Cosgrove @ 6 with Jaques as backup...

Re: Give Symonds the Heave ho
It was good to watch, wasnt a fan of Symonds at Test level but has played his natural game like it was the one dayers.
But again it is a bit early to judge him as a "all-rounder" on the basis of one match. Cases included Simon O'Donnell was good as a...
Yep.. Like Reiffel, Fleming, McGrath, and those (Late Bloomers) like Miller, Kasprowicz.. The later 2 may have NOT been considered as world class bowlers, but they did perform consistently for a period of time.
I'm Australian actually... and I agree there aint many QLD fast bowlers going...
Re: Give Symonds the Heave ho
There has been far many cases where a player has been good in ODI, yet hasnt shown that he go the whole way in tests. Bevan is a obvious case, O'Donnell is another. It can be argued that MacGill could be the same on the basis of the large amount of loose balls he...
Re: Give Symonds the Heave ho
Good stuff from Symonds with the ball today.. But as the "commentators" say He's in for his batting.
But I agree he wont last long if he keeps failing with the bat. Bowling didnt save Michael Bevan at test level, yet Bevan was announced a "all-rounder" after...
Like the commentators on the ABC said.. he's in for his batting  ... But its looking likely will play in sydney on the basis of his bowling perfomance seeing that he's a "allrounder".
If Symonds can get 30-40 odd with the bat in the second dig, I'd say he's "booked" his spot for...
