The AFLPA exists for a reason. Even if this idea somehow did come into effect, what happens to the teams that traded away their pick the year previous? You can't ask Collingwood to compete for pick 1 on behalf of GWS, and GWS wouldn't be able to compete for it for themselves for obvious reasons.

I see this idea proposed a lot but what most fans don't realise is that as a player, you wouldn't wanna compete in a mini-playoff for the rights to a guy who could replace one of you. Draft picks aren't motivation for listed players.
