Gallucci and Atkins commit until 2020

The club was never going to consider trading him people but a few on this forum have aired this option and they are going to be disappointed.
Not disappointed. And the club can still trade him. Just costs more

I dont think its unrealistic to look at players as trade options. Whether it be Atkins or Sloane or everyone in between. Most players have been mentioned in trade threads. Its about paying the price you think is worth getting an upgrade. ie Gibbs 2016/17 may have cost us 1st round + Atkins. I would do that. 2017/18 we gave up more.

To not consider any player as tradeable is to put your head in the sand

Think he’ll definitely be entrenched in it by year’s end, at least

I was disappointed he didn’t get atleast a couple more games last season... he should’ve played all three of Jono Beech’s games in place of Beech...

I think like others here that the club see him as a Cameron replacement..

We said the same thing to Wigg to get him to re-sign and it never happened.

They picked up Wigg with pick 54 I think... they picked up Gallucci with a first round pick at 15...

so you have to think they’d definately have greater expectations, and thus more patience, with Gallucci than they did with Wigg.

CEY is a 4th rounder still on the list after 6 years and hardly playing. Wigg as a 3rd rd lasted the same time as Grigg who was a 2nd rounder...one extra year than first rounders Kerridge and Lever lasted.
If we get Rankine, he might not be around for long.

They rarely leave when they havent established themselves as first 22 players. Reality is no one would be banging down his door at this point to get him to their club. If he kicks on the next couple of years then he is a risk to go.
This is the reality !

Not sure what we said to Wigg, but there is a difference in that Gooch already had a taste of AFL action with us. Also, Gooch arguably has more upside than Wigg and can play in more positional roles.
Oh i think Wigg had as much positional flexibility as Gallucci ......but Gallucci did in firsst season what Wigg couldn't do in three seasons ......play an AFL game

Cream always rises to the top ......good players always get games

The Gooch also is a tad quicker than Wigg. ;)

As quick and taller than Laird ......Cream rises
Agree, so long as they have the mental toughness too.

Been so many talented players who have not had the mental side.

Gooch isn't a worry as he's a pro.

Gallucci’s potential is and always was so much higher than a lazy, unprofessional Wigg. Gooch has far more strings to his bow and has the mindset to go with the talent.

I was one that thought Gooch might be at risk to leave at some point. Just struck me as the standard big city Victorian boy who’d want to be playing in his home state with his mates. Stoked that he’s signed for now though, because I think he has a whole stack to offer.

I don't mind we gave the games to Beech. He was always high quality in the SANFL, we gave him a shot to see if he'd have what it takes on the big stage and now we know and have moved on, rather than keeping him as a rookie for one more year.

This is the one aspect of a player, only the club can judge .....Mental application, desire, maturity, IQ, and hard work .......think Nick Kyrgios & Bernard Tomic ...both talent to burn, but mentally

PS that includes parental impact too

Looking a smart move to draft his AFL Academy mate and now housemate Poholke, think Brisbane have woken up to this recently too with their drafting of Hugh McCluggage, Jarrod Berry, Alex Witherden all being Academy mates and Cedric Cox a team-mate of Hugh and Jarrod.
