The horse I'm keenest to have a look at at Ellerslie tomorrow is Snazzytavi, it looks like a horse that could have G1 potential either side of the Tasman.
Best bet for me tomorrow is Randwick R7 #11 Townsend - missed the kick last start, everything went wrong. Should get a cushy lead here, firm...
Bont won the b&f by a mile, was voted the year's MVP by his peers and was all-australian captain in 2024.
I don't think he needs to return to anything. If he reproduces 2024 form, I'd take that.
Tyson played a game in Tassie that afternoon. By the time they did the post game activities, flew back to Melbourne, got back to Geelong and then out to a club, it'd be 10pm at the earliest.
He then drank enough to be comatose and unresponsive by 2am?
If that story stacks up to you, I've got...
English, Liam Jones, Darcy
- At his best English is All Australian, his worst is uncompetitive. Our back up Ruck is not ready, and Darcy or Lobb as first Ruck would badly hurt structurally. A firing English is crucial.
- Jones finished 4th in b&f and has been a great acquisition. Without him...
Fantastic set of tables, a lot of information there set out in an easy to consume manner.
I was surprised by the relatively modest showing of a few great players. I would've lost money on Mitch Hahn, Will Minson and Jordan Roughead each having only 1 top ten finish in their careers.
That's a harsh call on Jones for mine. Reckon Dear was on JOD when he was doing most of his damage.
Jones form did trail off a little towards the end of the year, but was still good enough for 4th in our b&f.
I would be staggered if he's not there R1.
With a 3 hour final session in prospect, reckon NZ will push the lead out to 600 and have an 8-10 over dash at England tonight.
Good chance of a wicket or 2 after a long day in the field for England.
Looking at his rookie me profile, the first 2 attributes listed are clean hands and defensive running.
Very early days yet, but can see him on a Joel Freijah trajectory.
Seems to have a great skill set for half back/wing early on.
Massive tick for our recruiting team if we nail late picks 2...
I know your info is rock solid as a rule SB, but something doesn't add up here.
Jamarra is shown in the 2km video from day one of preseason, as well as photo galleries from training sessions on Nov 27 and Dec 6 on club website.
Imagine holding a journalism course full of kids with no AFL connections wanting to become AFL journos, and average looking girls wanting to become sports or weather presenters.
You'd tell them all to take up a trade.
It's been reported that the club's legal team requested a period of 28 days to make the payment, which would indicate that we're pretty keen to finalise the matter
Great thread.
The AFL is a strange little world.
So much hand wringing about the potential Hall Of Fame/Legend recognition of other great players with off field failings.
And yet, the only player who actually has criminal proceedings against him as a result of on field actions is accorded...
Given last season was a pretty big year for change in the coaching division (Egan, Pratt, Johnson, Geary all in, Lade to mids/stoppages), I'd say the results were hard to knock.
Finishing the year #2 for scoring, #1 defensively speaks for itself.
In terms of scoring shots, we were the #1 team...
I agree with this. The accepted fact that Libba's form fell away badly at the end of last year doesn't really stack up for mine either.
His numbers certainly hold up.
Career wise his disposal average 22.5. in 2024 they were 23.7. In his last 4 games he had 25, 23, 24, 25 - rock solid.
All the...
We did try him in the middle briefly a couple of years back.
His problem was that he tended to take tacklers on rather than release quickly and got caught with the ball often in tight quarters.
Maybe with a bit more experience it's worth another go.
This seems a good thread for showing clear bias for one's own team.
In that spirit, if all of these players were thrown into an open draft and Sam Darcy lasted until pick 22, I'd be seriously shocked
Libba was a good young player who had a few off field issues, got better and became a valuable asset.
Lachie was a good young player who had a few off field issues, only got worse and became a liability.
It's not as if he wasn't given a number of opportunities.
We were, but that doesn't mean every midfielder had a stinker. Libba had 25 possies, 14 contested, 7 clearances and was named in the AFL website match report as our best player on the night.
Anyone who cites this game as evidence of his imminent demise is kidding themselves.
Couple of champs being dismissed way too soon for mine.
Libba's numbers were rock solid to the end of last year, was just about our best player in the final.
Missed 7 games last year ( mostly early/mid year) and still finished 6th in the b&f.
He'll be 32, but looks hungry and his old man was...
Did a 6.09 at the state combine, so a very competent 2km runner.
Bont narrowly behind is impressive, obviously didn't go too crazy on the Italian cuisine with the partner (wouldn't have blamed him tbh).
Yep, he meets up via zoom with a panel of coaches at least once a month. Not sure who else is currently in the panel, at one point it included Bevo, Ange, Brian Goorjian, Eddie Jones and others.
