Firstly - we are not a state league like the WAFL or SANFL. The VFL offering of Southport and AFL reserves is the State League equivalent.
We have had a constantly changing footy landscape over the past 15 years and hopefully we get to settle into this latest offering.
Its a quality competition...
I don't think you need to be defensive Premier!!
Our model is what it is and in 2019 with some good coaching and maturity into a number of locals we were able to snatch a close GF. Deserved and great reward for persistence in our model.
We were still very competitive last 2 years and were not...
Cannot believe that AFLQ investigated the Cats in a short compromised season and did nothing to the sharks who so blatantly have rorted the cap in seasons past. A joke really.
Mud sticks though and the Cats have definitely started to spend some money over the last few seasons - a shift from...
Agree BlackDog - Broady have certainly gone hard - Clay Cameron a great get. Not sure $1.05 but favourites for sure.
Surprised you didn't get "Super Coach" back to Labrador to help out? Might indicate Lab are no chance?
Hopefully Southport and Aspley take over the Suns and Brisbane reserves and play in a reserves comp down south.
They actually just don't fit the QAFL - it would require dropping another Brisbane and coast club out and then there is the salary cap which neither club will respect.
Happy for...
I think at this stage its imperative that all players have access to playing some footy this year regardless of what comp they come from.
It's not going to be even necessarily but who cares - lets just get some footy.
As for the NEAFL -it lost its way after the first few years - I actually...
Well ............. what a great win!
Full credit to the coach. An absolute master stroke having Brad at our club - built the old fashioned way this team.
And thank god there are no more tribunal explanations coming our way🤭🤔🤗
Well Gents - good selection in Macansh coming in - highly skilled player.
Great to see Sewell back in as well.
Im going for the upset and surfers by 17 points.
BOG Matt Green.
Time to let it go - he was concussed end of story.
It is grubby this whole affair and AFLq are as bad as the ignorance from PBC
Haberfield was never in danger - I hope Burge plays but really - let’s move on
You have made your points on here and people don’t all agree
The system that knowingly allows salary cap breaching ?;)
AFLQ is not the Tribunal - they can appeal.
I believe the Derrick incident was more severe and he got off only due to the threat of Supreme Court action.
Will expect the same outcome. Should have been 2 down to one game in my opinion. To...
Terrific crowd at Salk today - PBC too good - kept Surfers in it at half time.
A great response in the 3rd but never really got our game going - Croad very good in first half and our mids were well beaten.
Still think we can get job done on the bigger oval and spread the palmy defenders. Wasn’t...
I like the Cats to get over Siders. Both teams have some handy ins - adding run.
Just hard to see Siders recovering from last week and Cats to win easily in the end by 4+ goals.
Going to back our form over PBC as well - not comfortably but 3+ goals the final margin.
Obviously extremely buoyant after the weekend. Needed to put the Siders away to confirm we have the ability to take it to Palmy this week and beyond. Not many noted that we had a depleted line up when we lost to Morningside earlier in the season.
Think the Cats will get over the Siders in a...
The strategy of not taking rookie NEAFL players had no bearing on their results end of season.
Broady selected a fringe NEAFL player in Erickson a few years ago and he attached to their club and stayed on playing great footy and is a ripping bloke from all reports. Good longer term thinking.
Morningside have done pretty well out of Redland this year - their inclusions of Howard, Rogerson etc has been pivotal to their improvement. Developing talent requires a little patience sometimes and these rules are in place to prevent narrowed focus of some clubs or coaches.
Its the kids coming...
That was a deliberate strategy by those clubs. They have also recruited the heaviest as well. (Lots of quality ex NEAFL or better players on their lists during those years).
I guess our understanding has always been that the QAFL to an extent does underpin the NEAFL and academy system. Its not a great system but we experience as much disruption as anyone in the QAFL and we embrace it and welcome the players and back them in. I think you are clutching at straws if...
Interesting our views on how close the comp is but reality of ladder past 2 years suggests otherwise?
Agree with premier - top 3 are the only realistic chances. Interesting year when you can only 40% of your games but still play finals.
2019
1. PBC 15 wins
2. Surfers...
Fantastic commentary for sure - but everyone should take a deep breath!!
Lets see how PBC bounce back this week. I think we find out about both PBC and Broady in my opinion.
And also if our form is fickle - it will be close but if we are the real deal we should take care of Maggies and finish...
Was a terrific win and is just the tonic heading into last round with double chance in our own hands.
Must say it was a surprise reading that PBC coach was using a "strong training block" excuse as the reason for the flat performance. He did acknowledge Surfers played well but unsure why you...
Thanks BD - great summary - I hope you do get some results from juniors as that will truly assist delivering a more sustainable model.
Personally I don't view the QAFL as state league - more a hybrid of state/suburban.
I didn't agree with the sharks colts alignment at the time - in fact I was...
