Preliminary Finals (Friday night)
AFL - Sydney vs Collingwood / West Coast
vs
NRL - Melbourne vs Manly / North Queensland
Be interesting to see the tv ratings in Sydney for that Friday night.
Apologies for that. Site was down for a couple of days. Had to get the all clear from OzTAM first and add OzTAM copyright information. Site back up now after checking by OzTAM and approval granted. :thumbsu:
Just saw the ad now. I'm with you. I love it, especially the indigenous kids playing the game. Australia's game it is. :thumbsu:
So much better than that NRL rubbish about this is our house.
I have put together tv ratings for the AFL, NRL, A-League, Soccer/World Cup and Super 15 Rugby/Rugby Internationals as well as some regional ratings where available for major games (ie: AFL Grand Final) that includes Tasmania for the last 4 seasons...
What are people's thoughts on what Vlad says below?
Will be live in Sydney and Brisbane on 7mate this year. Good luck Goodes, fingers crossed. :thumbsu:
Agreed, thank god for 7mate. Looking forward to live Friday night football and the weekends games every week on 7mate the new home of footy in Sydney and Brisbane. Maatttteeeee :thumbsu:
Re: TV Ratings for last night's game. 808,000 in Melbourne.
Massive ratings for the AFL. :thumbsu:
As for regionals, who even cares. Even David Gallop the CEO of the NRL doesn't.
I'm shocked too. They also have the AFL Fans Survey for 2011.
Not sure what's going on. So unlike the Daily Telegraph when it comes to AFL. Hopefully reporting on the AFL is finally changing. New editor perhaps?
Saw an ad last night on 7mate saying the wait for live FNF for AFL fans is over in NSW/ACT and QLD. Starting this Friday night with Hawthorn vs Essendon, all FNF games will be broadcast live.
YAY... Cheers Channel 7 :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

I wonder if Channel 9 will broadcast the rest of the State of Origin series in prime time in Melbourne. Are they contractually obliged too? Game 1 was not a good result for them that's for sure.

Both papers in Sydney are hopeless when it comes to AFL news. Most of the time it's anti-AFL news in both papers. And to think the Daily Telegraph is the official newspaper of the Sydney Swans.
Thank god for the internet. I can't remember the last time I actually bought a newspaper.
So what you're saying is only Sydney fans leave the game early when their team is getting flogged. Has never happened with West Coast fans at Subiaco or any other team in the AFL?
The ways the Swans were playing after half time I don't blame em. I found it a real struggle to stay until the final siren. Disgraceful effort from the Swans on the field.
I actually like the noise and atmosphere those clappers create around the ground. Adds to the atmoshphere in my opinion. Oh and yeah, like you say, you can win $1000 at half time. :thumbsu:
From the article:
The old excuse of poor public transport and expensive food and beer doesn't wash in this case. If it was good enough for the 33,000 next door, it should have been good enough for Sydney's league fraternity too.
Those who argue that the Swans get more bums on seats because...
Total convert here too. Grew up playing Rugby League and supporting a team week in week out until I saw a live Swans game at the SCG in the early 90s. Now I can't see what I ever like about Rugby League. I watch now and think it's such a boring and predictable game with a lack of atmosphere...
