AFL Rules in Sydney Football Crowds

ITT people act as if Swans crowds are the only ones to boo umpire decisions, want 50m penalties for minor infractions, and leave early when their team is getting smashed.

Happens at every single AFL game every single week in every single city.

Well yeah, that too. I was going to ask if calling for 50s meant Collingwood fans didn't know the rules.

Wrong calls by the crowd? No such thing. If enough people are screaming things tend to happen. It's called a home town advantage. Plus it's fun to vent. ;)

Half the calls I make I follow by immediately whispering to friends "as if" :D

Are you Mark Rudd over there by any chance?

We each have a dislike for EA - worlds biggest moron. Yes, we used to have some great battles over there, Beaussie. All friendly of course. The Swannies going ok too at the moment. Buyt it'll be a Blues / Storm premiership this year. Mark my words, my friend. Mark my words.

Pun MAYBE intended. ;)

Problem is 25000 of those attended still have no idea what AFL is. Sydney crowds are bloody terrible and mostly clueless.

My brother was at the game and he told me that Swans supporters were walking out at 3Qtr time. Bloody disgraceful.

And before anyone says your a Eagles supporter what would you know. I live in Sydney and was a Swans member for 4 years just so I could watch some live AFL.

I've been to plenty of games at Subi where the same could be said of Eagles and Dockers supporters, leaving at 3/4 time and even earlier on occasions.

Speaking of clueless crowds, for a footy state West Australian crowds have to be the worst at knowing the rules, or knowing when to opposition deserve a free.

Anyone thinking that fans calling for 50's or Frees when there is nothing in it is unique to Sydney obviously hasn't been to the Footy anywhere else.

OVERS!!!
REGioNALS!!
GALLOP!!
did I say OVERS yet?

You wait until we get the IC, yer, the IC will sort you bastards out,. the IC will fix everything. The only reason we dont get crowds over 30k is because of Gallop and News and they dont count thre regionals. Plus the fact that we arent played or followed in most of Australia is proof of our strength!

Also, the reason we play NSW V QLD every year isn't because their 2 popular NRL states, it's because they're the only NRL states.

Very interesting that despite the obvious interest in the sport in Sydney, the main newspapers (SMH and Terrorgraph) both publish an amount of news that is on par with the popularity of league in Melbourne.
The Australian is a bit better, but has alot less coverage of all sports.
I refuse to buy any of those papers and instead purchase the Financial Review (less football, but still more to read than the SMH or DT).

Anyway we can start some sort of petition to get more football news in the Terrorgraph and SMH. It is needed to grow the sport in Sydney more.

Do what do and get all your football news online .
Newspapers lose income and see all the online hits .
Eventually it'll click that a good number of people want a wide sports coverage .

Both papers in Sydney are hopeless when it comes to AFL news. Most of the time it's anti-AFL news in both papers. And to think the Daily Telegraph is the official newspaper of the Sydney Swans.

Thank god for the internet. I can't remember the last time I actually bought a newspaper.

Coming from a WCE supporter that's a compliment .

But getting to the thread ,the fact is that the Swans lost and lost badly .
The fact that nrl crowds (and nrl crowd "estimates")are pathetic is really no comfort .

Was it you cos that had the list of excuses as to why NRL supporters don't attend games and support their teams? That list was hilarious.

Ah EA, what a loser. :D

ah-hem.
Also, having lived near Albury/Wodonga, I would be surprised if even if it was a 90/10 split AFL's way.
As posted earlier -
What??
What are you even on about? That has nothing to do with the attendances at games in Sydney, and is blatantly incorrect.. Albury is 50/50 between both codes, Wagga is 70 League, 30 Australian Football.. I haven't been to Orange for so long I can't comment..
But stop posting garbage.
Actually, apart from failing to catch on to the obvous pisstake, the bolded bit above is garbage.
As someone who has lived a large part of my life in Albury and also thoroughly familiar with Wagga, let me tell you the facts -
Albury is 95 Australian Football, 5 (at best ) RL. Albury is the heart of the Ovens & Murray League, the richest and most well attended country league in Australia, where leading players earn over 50k per year, and the GF crowd at Lavington can be up to 20,000. In contrast, the local RL comp is totally insignificant, with no measurable crowds, money or local interest.
Wagga is 60 Australian Football , 40 League. In terms of both playing numbers and spectators, Australian Football has grown to be clearly ahead in Wagga over the last 10-15 years.
And I was being VERY generous to the NRL by splitting Albury 95/5. As another Albury resident pointed out, League barely exists at all there - and A Wagga poster gave the split now as 70/30 to Australian Football - which has grown heaps theri compared to a dieing NRL league over the last 10-15 years.

Lol at LU, someone posted a thread about this and the next 10 comments were about the tv ratings...

Then they started ranting saying everyone in the crowd was a Hawthorn supporter, which shows AFL in Sydney is struggling

And they'd be dead right! On both accounts. TV ratings in Sydney is the only indicator that matters (as long as they include the regionals!). Overall TV audience, money made from TV rights, crowd figures, sponsorship dollars, club membership figures, participation levels, national presence, player wages, financial turnover, all that nonsense doesn't mean SHIT. As long as League rates well in Sydney (plus regionals!), that means we are the number 1 code in Australia.

LU is a laughing stock.
I've been banned at least a dozen times for simply pointing out errors in the crap the average meathead posts.
Got banned for pointing out that Carmichael Hunt had his website 3 years ago in the thread claiming he started it just because he signed with AFL and had suddenly got a big head and an ego.:D

Never been on a forum which is populated by such low IQ, insular and shit scared audience and that includes Chritian Fundie, New Earth Creationist, Homeopathy forums.
Truly the dimmest of the dim.
