We briefly looked at Tomlinson, but in the end went a different way. Think they decided fairly quick to look internally they would trial reef for that position.
Apparantely he changed his mind

Yeah, if we were that desperate, we would have gotten your mate tomlinson, but we didn't. Obviously decided then they were gonna trial reef and see if he can compliment that backline. I personally think it's easy to blame the defenders, but the real issue was the pressure up the ground.
I think he'll do well. He would already have a connection with the academy girls and would understand how a girls program should be run. I think the fact he has been involved in the academy will help him as a coach like no other coach thats coaches these aflw girls.
COLLINGWOOD
POSITION BATTLE: KEY DEFENDER
The Pies are still wanting for a Nathan Murphy replacement after the premiership defender was medically retired last year. Murphy was an understated part of Collingwood’s structure, and is a major reason for the side’s drop off in 2024. Finding a...
Not even HF, as HF's are more half mids. But.I guess its more about giving him a secondary role to rather than just a clearance player, which isn't something that yet worked out. So hopefully by adding this string to his bow, if there is an opportunity there in such a role, he can take it.
I suppose similar to what he played in the Eagles game.
HF and then moving up iinto the midfield, would then do centre bounce on occasion and then would move forward as he provides transition from mid to forward.
I was hopeful for Kreuger too, just a shame he couldn't stay on the park. He had a lot of attributes that we like. Unfortunately didn't work out for him.

Yeah. Could be the missing link, and he's still very young too. Looks a natural down there. Reads the play really well. Uses his pace to burn off players and attacks and sets up the offence from defence. He's marking has been good, and contest work (spoiling etc)
Shame they never tried this...
No that's not fair I agree, they have made the most of their opportunity and have a medal to show for it, of course. And I do think they both can play a role in 2025.
That's why I did say, that's his next step. To put this form, into game time. One step at a time, but signs are good, and hopefully he can keep his confidence he seems to have.
