Was Charlie really a bit down this season? To me it felt like he maybe made the biggest sacrifice to his game for the team this season and played a far more selfless role than I’d ever seen from him.
Fort has shown he can be a solid ruck for a game, not a key fwd. Smith has shown promise but not enough to say he’ll hold up for a full season taking a number 1 or 2 key defender.
I suppose I just don’t see the reward as worth the risk taking another state league key forward when we’ve got...
I see where you’re coming from and in a vacuum I’d rather those guys as well but it feels like we’ve already got too many unknown ‘state league’ key forwards in our reserves. Between Smith, Ryan and to a lesser extent Fort I think if we’re going after Day as depth and a plug and play option I’d...
Jack Hayes is definitely my first choice if available. Either he gets back to the form he showed to begin his career and is a great forward/2nd ruck or he’s good depth and we back in Smith to continue to develop. If that doesn’t work we can go small and have one of the most dynamic/dangerous...
Surprised this one hasn’t been spoken more about, better than most names I’ve seen and isn’t an off-field issue. Is a good forward and solid second ruck. All we really need is someone physical enough to not get beaten consistently to let the rest of our forwards go to work imo.
Pretty much what I’ve landed on, Lester and Ah Chee could’ve been on the fringe for Doedee and Linc but after the back half of the season they’ve proven to be two of the best role players in the league, particularly Ah Chee who is a matchup nightmare for others.
I’d be tempted to try and find a...
Yeah I’ve had F3 as a mid pricer since the start, even thinking of dropping Flanders down to one as well and having Macrae + guys between 300k-200k rounding out the forward line.
With so many best 18 rounds I think I like the extra cash gen and potential spike scores from those midpricers...
If a team isn’t putting time into him then they’re not doing their job. Also maybe I’m remembering wrong but I thought it usually takes teams a few rounds to hard tag gun players. Feels like everyone wants to test out their game plan to start with rather than taking something away to stop...
Just out of interest if Lester and Gardiner aren’t the same same comparison who would it be? Might be wrong but imo those are the three competing for the third tall defender spot.
I'm not sure how hard they stick to that quote, I thought I remembered reading somewhere that both Wilmot and Lohman were both picks for need/suited what we needed at the time. Might be remembering that wrong though.
Doedee returning fit is adding a near AA squad level intercept defender and rebounder. Ryan was pretty clearly a depth pickup with upside after losing Fullarton and Gunston.
From the grand final team that only lost by 4 points we’ll add Doedee, Ashcroft and Payne. Those three inclusions are...
A fit Doedee is the best player you've mentioned there, considering last years trade and draft period and looking forward to next years as well it has been a decent off-season by us
I don’t think personnel stop what Hill did yesterday, he’s not a premier small forward. It was the bad turnovers and getting beaten out of the middle that gave him good supply.
Ashcroft and Payne in would be enough and they're already on the list, add to that half the team played below their average and we still only lost by 4 points in a GF. Plenty of over-reactions which is to be expected I suppose but we're definitely there abouts and will be for the next few years...
Biggest problem I always have with umpiring and the AFL in general is all the inconsistencies, does my head in. The Zac Bailey non-high contact followed by the exact same action being paid, couple of deliberate out of bounds that should've been free's, even that Berry free kick for running too...
