"I'm going to take Touk Miller if it looks like Damien Hardwick will not have a negative impact on his scoring potential (120~).

If it's looking likely that Hardwick will have negative impact, I'll likely pick up Newcombe instead as a similarly priced midfielder with premium scoring potential. "

This is like a Hot Fuzz bit, but for footy:

Reading through the Hawks board and Finn Maginness tagged Jai Newcombe during part of the match simulation today.
I'm really starting to have doubts about starting Naicos if he gets tagged in Round 4 and then the extra Bye in Round 5

My head is saying NO.
If he averages 120 in the first 3 games = 360
Then in Round 4 gets tagged scores say 90 then the Bye in Round 5 he has an average of 90 = 450 points

Say instead I pick Jack Sinclair and he averages 110 (Which is what he did after the bye last year) then I'm not only $60k better off but also 100 points in the first 5 rounds.

BUT

You need to trade Daicos in at some point, and if he goes 120, 120, 120, 90 he's not dropping much after his bye. Collingwood's draw really opens up after Port in round 6. He may never get cheaper than that point, will you have $600k + to get him then?

I'm inclined to FADE him too btw, but it's not a simple choice. He'll be in two thirds of teams probably, and if he beats the tags and his price goes up? We'll never get him and it's season over.

I think a lot hinges on his R0 score.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Sydney and saints put time into Daicos as well
If a team isn’t putting time into him then they’re not doing their job. Also maybe I’m remembering wrong but I thought it usually takes teams a few rounds to hard tag gun players. Feels like everyone wants to test out their game plan to start with rather than taking something away to stop someone else.

Yes and tags don't always work. Magginiss ate him up last year, but he's a gun player and knows it's coming. As much as other teams will try to shut him down, Collingwood will have a plan too.

Just start him. You only need best 18 for their earlier bye. Only 2 teams missing so not a huge deal.

I remember in a head to head I needed Finn to tag the 💩 out of Sinclair.

Kept him to like 11 points in first quarter but the tag was moved off him early in second as they were getting pumped. Sinc rolled out 100 points in last 3 quarters.

Result/stateof the game plays a part.

Crows Training report from today ....the poster is not prone to exaggeration, and is very measured in his views

Curtin with a sore knee, not ideal.

You have to also factor in the 19th scorer for when he has his bye, could be a score of 80, so 530 points and only a 20 point cost using your numbers
