I don’t think there’s any doubt Geelong made the right call- most players at pick 17 won’t show anything near the talent Smith is capable of. I’m intrigued to see how he will fit in, and the Cats normally get the most out of players so who knows just how good he could be in the hoops.
Im keen to see how he actually goes in Geelongs midfield- and is that where he will actually play? I’m definitely not all over his playing style but I struggle to see him as a ball winner and more a running player/ winger. Surely if he’s capable as a full time mid then goin by his early career...
Tell me that doesn’t stink.. takes a pay cut but mysteriously winds up with a farm, and a Cotton On sponsorship. I can’t think of a single player ever willing to do this.. surely the AFL notice the smell coming from down the highway 💩
melbourne are a laughing stock the way this has played out- the deal is dead simply for the fact the club has been adamant in the past 24 hours that he won’t be traded, if they were to flip flop on this I’d expect the club to be burnt to the ground by the media and members. This one’s dead.
Nooooooooooo
We simply won’t get value coming off ACL.. we would only trade with a direct top of table enemy only if it’s a great deal for us, one would think
Any idea what was discussed in terms of paying Oliver? If that proposal included Melbourne paying a fair chunk of his salary then it doesn’t seem so bad.
We’re having a discussion, I know it’s not fact- just stating it’s bonkers to be considering it. I really hope the Hawks arent. Yes im aware we could have pick 18 next year but we also may have pick 7 or 8 for example. A first and a second I think is fair for both parties.
Have we learnt anything from recent trading history? Being easy to deal with doesn’t correlate to getting the club in the best position it can. Sounds as though Geelong will get Clarry and B Smith for a bag of chips whilst we give out 2 years worth to first round picks for a guy that may...
As others have said I wouldn’t be suprised if the Hawks fell back a little bit next year. They really rode the wave of momentum and had a consistent run with injury, at least until the end of H&A.
The Cats, who knows. Have been blessed with few injuries also, they have the muscle memory of...
I’m hoping for a Brissie win, blowout last quarter to really stick the knife in the heart of the Cats.
It will be the new one that got away for them, ala 2008 and 13. ‘If we didn’t have injuries, Covid, gastro and coaches fainting we woulda won it easily’
The Cats and their fans really are the kings of making excuses- all I’ve heard about today is they lost because of Holmes hamstring, a coach who fainted, gastro, Covid 19 and Brisbanes lucky fortune that their ruckman got injured and fluked Daniher getting into the game because of it. They are...
This is what happens time and time again, when in despair the footy gods throw us some false hope.. only for a Joe Daniher clanger to break our hearts again
same shit rinse and repeat 20 odd years.. Cats NEVER get injuries while the oppo ruckman pops a shoulder, they get every roll, every tin arse bounce and seemingly turn absolute nobodies into great players.. Last ACL to a best 22 player was Menzel what 15 years ago? **** I’m fed up with it. The...
I don’t disagree with you per se- the problem is, Ginny’s comment was perfect ammunition to feed to a mob looking for reasons to claw back some dignity- no matter how innocent Ginny’s comments were you don’t want to give the oppo any slight motivation. I hope he learns from it.
Watson is officially a big time player in his first year- 7 goals in two finals is massive.
The boys never looked comfortable, not sure if it’s a work rate issue on the night or a game plan issue, something for the coaches to think about at least.
Apart from the obvious backline recruits we are...
Hard to say as when Lewis did play this year he was effectively a witches hat. In fairness to him he’s never had a season with us where he’s had the ball kicked in so frequently and other weapons for the opposition to worry about. If he comes back fit next year he could be the icing on the cake.
I don’t get it. He’s got nothing left in the tank and if they sign him on big money (why would he play on on anything less) then he’s an expensive borderline fringe 22 player that isn’t known for his leadership skills.. am I missing something?
I can only imagine the abuse being hurled toward him at each break if they get behind early.
I only ask (other than the win) an injury free week this week.
The first quarter will tell us plenty- absorb absorb absorb. If the Hawks can do that and are within a couple at quarter time I reckon we win and win without much fuss.
Yeah for sure, I thought it was worth posting as it’s a rumour that seems somewhat medically unlikely, although clearly not impossible from the responses here.
Speaking to a lifelong GP about this rumour he says he would be enormously suprised if it was shingles, as he’s never seen anyone sub 50 with it. Scoffed at the idea of a 25 year old with it.
