Coleambally were barely competitive in the Hume League first, uncompetitive in the 2nds and mildly competitive in the Juniors.
Put them in the RFL and they would not see the year out.
Coleambally had a few years in the Murray league in the 80's and got smashed most weeks.
Re: Farrer League
Clubs such as Culcairn and Holbrook currently have 75% of their lists being ex locals now living in Albury or recruits from the Albury Area.
Only about 25% of their senior players live in those towns.
Where are they going to find 35 footballers to recruit from Wagga...
No footy coverage in Qld on Sunday was bad enough for a NM supporter.
However the worst insult was that between 2pm and 5pm, not one Olympic event was shown live, especially as the swimming had finished.
The water polo was treated disgracefully, in a must win match it was cut for interviews...
As a Nth Melb supporter living in Townsville without Foxtel, this is very disappointing.
If the Olympics coverage so far is any guide, a break in coverage for a couple of hours from 12 pm to 3pm (Chinese Time) wont mean we miss any live sport, apart from Heat No. 150 from the pool.
We will have...
Premiership Odds:
Does anyone want to start a book for this years flag.
Judging by recent form I would go for the following:-
Jindera and Osborne 3/1
Culcairn 4/1
Lockhart 12/1
Holbrook 40/1
Howlong 80/1
Anyone else 500/1+
Re: Collingwood request only 1 game against NM in 2009
Apart From The Loss Of Revenue The Worst Thing About Playing Collingwood Only Once Is That It Costs Us 4 More Points
Collingwood request only 1 game against NM in 2009
Well, well, well.
I thought the sooky Indian Cricket Team had left our shores.
Obviously money doesn't equal class.
Perhaps Collingwood should focus on their underperforming football department instead of crying over a clash guernsey.
Yeah I Know it won't happen due to politics etc.
Perhaps the HFL could gain Thurgoona and The Rock-Yerong Creek and Rennie and Coleambally could move west to form 3 leagues
Division 1
Holb, Henty, Lockhart, Culcairn, Jindera, Howlong, Walla, Osborne,TRYC
Division 2
RWT, BB, CDHBU,B Crows...
In the future leagues will need to be based around the large centres they draw their players from, Albury, Wagga, Corowa etc.
Especially with increasing fuel prices etc.
Therefore I reckon a wagga District league, and an Albury District League would be better.
Unfortunately good clubs like...
So having 36 players in one half of the ground is no longer flooding?
It is still occurring in nearly all games at some stage.
100 interchanges per game is longer a mass rotation?
Occurs every week!!
Why legislate an increase to the numbers on the bench which will apply to 100% of the game...
Leave the bench numbers alone!!!
The increase in numbers on the bench lead to the scourge of flooding, mass rotations etc.
Isn't it better to see players resting up forward etc.
It keeps the type of player able to play Aussie rules diverse big & small etc.
too many rotations will mean...
603 games
beginning in late 1940's/early 1950's, and was still filling in for the 2nds in the late 70's/early 80's when they were short.
Then went on and coached the juniors for a few more years.
I think people are being a bit harsh on CDHBU, although flogged in the ones, they went very well in the lower grades, and are good additions to the HFL.
They will be more consistent year in year out than all of the other CDFL clubs, and have more scope for further improvement.
The Crows appear...
The real test begins this week for the former CDFL sides.
Anyone predict how CDHBU and Rennie will fair?
At last it seems as though the Hume League is not simply a 1 or 2 horse race.
Any one of Osborne, Jindera, Lockhart, Holbrook, Culcairn, could be premiers and maybe CDHBU (know more after...
Re: Farrer League
Your logic is as flawed as your grammar.
So Culcairn and Henty should be prepared to lose all of their Albury based players, and travel 180km to Ardlethan and Temora, to boost footy in the Farrer.
They would fold after 1 year.
Extract from todays Eastern Riverina Chronicle:
Henty Football Club in trouble
The Henty Football Club has long and proud history, having won many junior and senior premierships over the years, with many of its players featuring amongst the league’s best and fairest players. However, the club is...
Re: Farrer League
Too right Flying High. Why is it any different now to 25 years ago when Henty, Holbrook and Culcairn left a Wagga based league, to compete closer to Albury.
During the late 70 & early 80's their local juniors were increasingly moving to Albury for work etc. and either played...
I have recently moved to Townsville from the Hunter Valley NSW.
Both areas are strongly NRL dominated (Knights and Cowboys).
However I have noticed that the people of Townsville are more knowledgeable regarding Aussie Rules, and they are not as threatened by it as the Hunter Valley population.
I...
Pard,I wouldn't expect anything less from those 2, were Badgers clothes thrown on the front lawn?
It was a pity I couldn't be there to join in, couldn't get any time off work.
The only game I watched all year was the Howlong game, so it was probably I good thing I wasn't there.
Did anyone watch both the Hume and Tallangatta GF's.
How would Culcairn fair against Mitta on neutral ground e.g Lavi?
For that matter, how would each Hume team fair against the corresponding team from the TDFL, eg 2 vs 2, 3vs 3 etc?

Good call MTAG.
Old champs (footballers as well as good blokes) are better than a young never was anyday.
I remember 1993 well, Cul kicked 10 in the last to win by 60 points.
It is interesting how things have changed over 14 years demographically in Hume Football.
Of Culcairns Premiership side...
