B.Murray?
If true, expect Myrte to be strong as he will bring some needed topline players to compete with top sides.
Hopefully they keep most of their 2012 side together
The way the Gryphons moved the ball against us (short and wide) and their skill level by foot I don't think it would make any difference who they had sitting in their forward line. I certainly wouldn't want to play key forward for them. And their mid's are well undersized compared to most other...
Agree, Rd 1 will give us an idea on how strong BT really are.
My Ladder;
Prahran Assumption
Old Paradians
Bulleen Temp
ELtham
THerry - these sides to miss finals by 1-2 games
Latrobe
Emmaus - clear bottom 4 with these sides fighting for D2 survival
SMD
Monash

With the facility upgrades and how well the club is being run off the field at Thurgoona, I wouldn't be holding your breath if you're are waiting for them to run out of cash. With a membership base to rival most O+M clubs, Thurgoona suburb booming in numbers, a new clubhouse (changerooms to...
Compound fracture of the ankle so certainly a long road ahead for Malloy.
Had surgery last night which by reports went well. Apparently told by the surgeon he will never play footy again. I'm not sure that's the case, but fingers crossed he will make a full recovery. Also a keen cricketer with...
Looking through the clearances and a few names caught my eye.
Peter Cristoforo
Isaac Edmunds
Matt Pell
These are all very, very handy players who have signed with Prahran Assumption. Add this to what they had already plus Assumption connection as well as Jesse Silver who I hear is going to line...
Maybe we are over-estimating Mt Lilydale. Of the teams Ive seen play (Nth Brun, BHN, Monash, Sth Morn + PC), I would say PC to be the least impressive. Their midfield were average at best and their defense non-existent, and their forward consists of one decent forward. If Mt Lilydale struggled...
Unsure of the rules in the Ammos but in leagues I've played in the past, officials, players, goal and boundary umpires, spectators could all file complaints and the league would have to investigate. If these actions were witnessed by so many then surely action will be taken and this player is...
Was an interesting game. NB definitely had their chances, they missed a few shots but most points were from long shots, kicks under pressure or rushed points. NB started well and got within a goal with about 10 mins to go. Monash happy to get away with the 4 points but definitely played well...
How did everyone's practice matches go?
Was told that Monash beat West Brunny by a couple of goals in a good hit-out for both clubs. Monash would be happy with that result as they had 5-10 seniors not available. :thumbsu:
I don't know what clubs you have been involved with previously, but from my experience I dont think the prospect of finals the following week would affect anyones attack on the ball (or the man). Once the players cross the line no matter what week it is they should be focused on the job at hand...
You would think AP someone's got some news regarding practice matches, gains or losses! No surprises for mine....
My summation with only few weeks til kick off:
Tallangatta big improvers '09, still Kiewa should be the favourites in my opinion from what ive seen and heard. Mitta (as always)...
good news for the hoppers cos from wat i saw last year nick and pash key players for the hoppers.
i dont know if any names would help but the bigfooty members may have heard of a couple. they Way family will be well represented this season with Jake from Berrigan (b+f winner), and bro's jeremy...
look for a more consistent thurgoona outfit this year. have orready recruited a number of players including a couple of key positions with recruits having played seniors elsewhere including some club b+f winners. also had 5-6 17 yr olds who played seniors for the first time last year who will...
cmon, surely some clubs out there other then tallangatta have signed some players for 09.... what are ppl hearing in regards to recruits/possible recruits? thurgoona apparently talking to a few...they signed anyone pen to paper yet?
i hear todd miller been running each night! bit scary has...
latest news out of thurgoona: the return of d.murray a real possibility. is back in albury and will be playing at either thurgoona or one of the hume league clubs next season. andrews miller and murray would take some stopping with hargraves and semmler winning it out of the middle...fingers...
No real clue yet and will be a while yet before we have an idea how sides will line up as clubs keeping signings low key for the time being….but I will have a go at the ladder after the home & away season:
kiewa
mitta
beechworth
thurgoona
DMB
yack
barny
wahgunyah
tallangatta...
Bickies will fit in very well at Kiewa. With an already very strong midfield a good ruckman on top of that could be the difference. He'll ruffel up a few fethers in the league with his elbows, and the Kiewa Pub stocks are set to saw. Tallangatta should push for the five this year with a few...
dogs only look like losing one toon (sam) to rand-walbundrie and the key defender that was mentioned not sure what he is doin yet but my money on lining up for the dogs next year. murrays definitely gone as everywhere is aware. good to hear LT dogs arent fancied again this coming season...
Mitch Browne 21 yr old played junior footy and then 2nds at lavy not sure if he played any senior games. pretty handy player would go orright on a wing or half forward line in the hume league but wouldn't be a stand out i would have thought. still, handy addition
Re: Murray Football League
close to inking???? derek moves to shep on monday so i would say it is a done deal wouldnt you. very close apparently to signing a very big name already i am told so keep ears open out rumbalara way
mitta will have to something majorly wrong to not finish in the top spot. i also agree with yack and chiltern, they just playing off to see who gets the home rooms come 1st week of finals. sides like dederang, barny, kiewa, rutherglen will battle out for remaining spots i think.....heading...
