Just a bit of other news floating about.Julian Day definite with Kiewa.Just what they need contrary to others opinions on here,as Mitta had an advantage over them in contested footy this year.Jamieson has gone to Melbs so will be a loss for them.Ainsworth and Slater confirmed at Mitta.McMartin from Raiders signed as A/C at Dederang,Price and Dalkin also returning so the Bombers will see finals action.Elliot awaiting the chances of Raiders before he makes a descision between the two.(ie.whether they will be competitive or not)Williamson also gone to Yack.

Still a long way to go what have they recruited 4 players to a side that only won 1 game and a side that was filled with washed up veterans

Whow RHG you must really follow the TDFL a lot and know your stuff!!! Hoppers had 4 guys over 30 last year and the rest 22 years and under, they played 8 kids 18 years and under, 2 15 year olds as well with one of those 15 year olds to be a very very good player. Dont post comments when you dont have the correct info clown!!!! If your looking for the veterans look at Mitta's side.

Mitta may well have veterans but they are succesful ones.

Hopefully the Hoppers can hang on to a few of these young blokes. Had a bit of trouble keeping them around in recent years with uni and employment in other areas. Also there seems to be a swag of them at Bullioh which obviously would'nt be helping things at the moment. Also would hardly say that Mitta is full of veterans, only had three blokes over thirty in their premiership side, Conway, Tuenon, and Hodgkin.

Is anyone game enough to have a crack at the end of season ladder in 08?
I'd say Mitta, Kiewa then I havn't got a clue..

No real clue yet and will be a while yet before we have an idea how sides will line up as clubs keeping signings low key for the time being….but I will have a go at the ladder after the home & away season:
kiewa
mitta
beechworth
thurgoona
DMB
yack
barny
wahgunyah
tallangatta
rutherglen
wod saints

Its always an exiting time when the draw come out.

From a Rutherglen point of view, Terrific to get Wahgunyah first up at home in 2008. Should be a great opportunity for us to get some money through the gate and over the bar/canteen etc.

Interesting to see that we only have Chiltern once (away), and for the second year in a row we are not scheduled to go to Mitta/Eskdale.

What do followers of other clubs think the 2008 draw?

Correct, but there's 4 - Conway 19/10/70, Hodgkin 21/11/65, Teunon 13/11/68, but you forgot Packer 27/2/76. Next oldest Cardwell 24/1/78.

I never knew Toe Rag Conway was that old, but then again when you get him to show you his real teeth he does look a little aged.

mitta
barny
dmb
thurgoona
tallangatta
yack
beechworth
chiltern
wahgunyah
rutherglen
wod saints

Everyone seems to have Kiewa and Mitta in top 2 or 3 again. Does anyone know ins and outs of both teams. Could be the difference seeing only a point seperated them this year.

Thurgoona, Beechworth and Rutherglen currently training one night a week that i know of. Barny are training 2 nights at this stage. Not sure of anyone else. Mitta will start there run about June:D

Good mix with the draw first half of the season will test clubs depth with the first bye not scheduled to after round 9 also effectively ruling out any chance of an inter-league game. Draw seems fair this year.:thumbsu:

why does it rule out Inter League NOP??
would certainly hope it is rekindled as a friday night showdown on the Long weekend again. some great recruits in/back to the league and would be great to see the leagues best take the field again like you did 2 years ago.

because of the lack of Byes in the draw. the first bye is after round 9 and the second is the split round 14 therefore having the inter-league on the long weekend would require the better players of the comp to play 14 or 15 games straight. I agree the inter-league game 2 years ago was a fantastic week to be apart of and i would encourage my players to participate in another such event, but i'd also have to consider the workload the players are putting in. 3 months of consequative playing would wear out the best of us. Most players do actually enjoy that mid season break:thumbsu:
