Are "Runners" being used strategically by clubs?

It's actually dispiriting comparing the professionalism expected of clubs and players vs. the sheer incompetence of the AFL itself. Not a free kick, but we'll issue a fine. Melbourne didn't tank, but we'll penalise you anyway. We're really stuck in the dark ages.

    Team of the Century Gaffe

SOS himself was embarrassed by the selection at the time (from 4:29): As I am only 24 I have never seen Dench or Southby play, and I only have passing memories of Langford. Silvagni is easily the best full back I have ever personally watched. He played against, and routinely beat, the best...

Hot Topic The President, CEO & the Board - CARLTON SUPPORTERS ONLY!!!

I don't get the hate directed towards this article. It's 100% correct. The board is a joke.

Fully ticketed game has one third of the ground empty.

I find it repugnant that I pay $600 a year for a membership which supposedly allows me to attend home and away games, yet about 3+ times a year I need to spend extra to actually attend. Mind you, this rarely even happens at the MCG. I wouldn't be surprised if it's Etihad which determine which...

Andrew Ireland - "Carlton haven't won too many flags without cheating the cap"

I would hope Carlton is pursuing legal advice about this comment. Banter is one thing, stating completely incorrect statements on radio are another. Would love to see him publicly apologise. Smug idiot.

    Toast Dylan Buckley

His dash and aggressive play really ignited us with Garlett and Murphy in the 4th. He doesn't seem to buy into the 'let's stop running cause the other team has momentum' mood that the rest of the squad is prone to develop. Really excited to see him and Menzel come on in the next few years.

Toast Andrejs Everitt - updated discussion Andrejs at Sydney vs Andrejs at Carlton

Doc has been very very useful for us in the 3rd tall and defensive role. Great pick up for us. I'd love to see him get an extended stint on the wing.

West Coast or Carlton - Who will rise higher in 2014?

If all you Weagles fans are angry about the umps we'll happily trade last week's game for the 2011 semi-final. Your team turned to water half way through the 4th and squandered every opportunity. Get over it.

    Opinion The Rebuild Thread

I can't believe we're already having this conversation. After those painful years we're back in the doldrums. Unbelievable. It isn't just the playing list. The running of the club from top to bottom has been incredibly incompetent. It's an old boys clubs with too many rich idiots with their...

Gibbs stays - Who else do we throw the kitchen sink at?

Frawley for $800k is a joke. Poach some decent talls under 24 from other clubs with the Gibbs compo pick (should he leave)....or better yet, draft a decent tall for once.

Blues players vote on Mick Malthouse's game plan

The players should play to the plan they're given. It's all well and easy for the players to say 'nah, it doesn't work' when they've made nowhere near enough effort to adopt it and embrace it. Organisational resistance is massive in any workplace. Thankfully the players seem to realise that...

Opinion What are members/supporters entitled to know about the club?

Has anyone watched this week's episode of the Blue Print? The level of detail McKay goes into is actually really surprising, and to be honest I'm not sure whether publicly divulging that much info is helpful. The Age was very quick to write an article about the player meeting RE the game plan...

    Preview Rnd 4 - Carlton v Melbourne Sat 12th April 1.45PM @ MCG - Team post #571

As much as I'd love him out there on a HBF, Docherty isn't match fit yet. McKay said pretty bluntly he can't play seniors for a few weeks on the latest episode of the Blue Print.

Rumour The Thread formerly known as the rumour file, now with zero rumours

Not if we don't want him for the price he's asking. Regardless of offers from Adelaide or any other club, if Gibbs demands $700k there should be no way in hell we re-sign him.

Opinion Cancelling membership - Mods Please Close Thread

So did I. And I'm not backing away from it now. The Carlton Football Club is bigger than any one player, any playing list or any one performance. Have some perspective and sleep on it.

The chicken little 'season is over' thread

Pains me to say it, but we are now in full rebuild territory. This list is shot. We need to ship off a few older blokes while they still have currency. Let's not do a Melbourne, but I think we have a fair few too many medium sized players between 24 and 32 which we could get some half decent...

    Toast Dylan Buckley

Kicked the odd shank but had a genuine dip. Really need to press on with this bloke and give him games. Let's hope the older boys can get around him and prevent him from getting mauled. Him, Menzel and Murphy the only two positives tonight.

Opinion Cancelling membership - Mods Please Close Thread

Maybe you should have waited a few weeks to see whether your club is any good before you bought your membership. Or maybe you should stop carrying on like a sook and support your club through thick and thin.

    Malthouse - under the pump.

Why is Malthouse under the pump? What more could a man possibly do to prove his coaching credentials? The issue is the playing list. The current group has been driven into the dirt and every ounce of potential they have has been squeezed out. They simply have nothing left to give. This is the...

Will the Blues want to keep Gibbs?

If he wants $600k+ I'd be happy to get a first round pick for him in compensation. Considering we're looking pretty average this year we'd probably end up with 2x top 10 picks if Gibbs were to leave. If he were to leave though I'd rather poach another player worth the pay packet.

    2014 Membership Tally - Final Tally - *47,557

Last year we had the Mick hype to get us a few members. This year we have nothing. Speaking to the membership department they said after the horrible loss to Essendon in Round 4, 2012 the phones went silent. Completely dead. Before that memberships were selling like hotcakes. Rounds 1-4 or so...

    2014 Membership Tally - Final Tally - *47,557

Sunday night has cost us around 5,000 members. Maybe that'd be a good debrief point. "Good work boys, you've just cost your workplace about $1.5m".

Autopsy Rd 1 Carlton v Port Rant Thread *trolls & lurking likers beware*

Apart from Andrejs' athleticism, we are the exact same team as 2013. - can only play decent footy for 15 minutes. - cannot kick at goal to save ourselves. - when the opposition gets some momentum, we roll over and let them **** us for at least 20 minutes. - midfield cannot win a clearance to...

It's time to talk the Kreuze.

He's been under performing ever since he came back from his ACL. He's had a wretched run with injury, but he really does need to take the next step. Once he gets a pre-season under his belt he should turn it around...whenever the hell that will be.
  26. jonoman89

    Kreuzer

He's had next to no pre-season (again) so it's going to be hard for him to give much output this season. That said, he's been under delivering since he did his knee. He is a hard worker, but his tap work leaves a lot to be desired as does his marking. Once he gets a shot at full fitness he...

Past Jeremy Laidler - retired 2017

If he gets back to 2011 form he is definitely best 22 for you guys. Extremely good 3rd tall defender who can do a handy job on smalls as well. Considering you're giving up nothing for him it's a great get. I really loved his 2011 season. Hope he gets the best out of himself up there.

Pearce Hanley - bags out young Lions players who wanted trade home.

If those 5 blokes had moved interstate for work as part of a corporate graduate program etc. no one would bat an eye lid if they wanted to return home. Welcome to increased player choice and mobility. Clubs need to make sure they've got good facilities and non-football perks to keep their...
