The biggest problem I see is of the midfield rotations who is actually damaging via foot or do you trust transitioning the ball from half back? Mine in bold:
Hartlett, Jacobs, Cassisi, Cornes, Boak, Broadbent, McCarthy, Ebert, Rodan
Of the listed interchange only Pearce is reliable at hitting...
Right on the money - I could understand the mindless bombing if Shultz, Hoff and Butcher where 1 out forwards but they are all lead ups. Need to drop the eyes and put it into space for them, especially when we are allowing an extra defender to roam around in our forward line.
Outs:
Pearce - can't get a sniff of the ball and teams are dragging him inside 50 and isolating. Shocking 1 out defender.
Kane - Shocked that his name isn't being bandied around as an out. May pick up 20+ touches a game but does absolutely nothing with them. Teams are happy to let him have the...
Brogan to win it. Dom runner up.
Personally I think Kane has had a decidedly poor season. I'm sure I will get hounded down for saying so but his use of the ball and decision making has been as poor as I've seen from him.
Rodan to finish 3rd.
we've done our bit, now come on you good things (Sydney, Carlton, Richmond) and knock these ball-lickers out of the 8 for good!
5 loses on the trott, the 'birdman' out for the year........ bloody hell all we need is Andrew Newton Jarman to be appointed coach when Cwaigy gets the inevitable...
don't know what was said to him over the break but he's been great since.
Putting his head over the nugget, going in and winning the ball and using it when he gets his hands on it.
Top work!
Nice review as always.
I think we'd all agree its time to put the cue in the rack for Chad. The guy is tackling with one arm and can't mark the ball. It hurts to see a champion player struggling through each week. Get him into surgery asap.
I love Brogans effort and passion but the guy cost...
enough is enough.
Tredders has had a free pass from us supporters for 18months, mainly due to injuries, rehab etc. His whole game tonight was pathetic, and when he gets the chance to redeem himself he barely even looks interested.
Port Adelaide captains set up a lead the team regardless of...
first 3 home games all night matches (1 thursday, 2 sat night).
AFL will expect big crowds otherwise we wont get that many Sat night games again - regardless of the perceived crowd problems.
Agree with Boak. I reckon Chad for the final years of his career and then Boak taking over. Boak is an absolute gun who typifies everything that the PAFC stands for.
Out of their hands. Judd was leaving reagardless, WC could have sat back, sulked, and held up all deals 'till 1:30 today, but instead got the deal they had to done and then got out there and made some big moves.
Compare what they've been able to get with what other clubs have produced this...
Exactly. '06 and '01 were freakish years for the draft.
This year will produce just as many top players as any other year, and to have 4 top 25picks is bloody good.
Losing Judd is obvously massive for the club but to pick up a number of top25 picks is brilliant work.
They've already got a top tier midfield and with 5 (i think!) top 25picks this year are setting themselves up to be a top contender for years to come.
A trade week that could have ripped...
Depends what we get in the draft for pick 28.
On face value I agree that it doesn't look like a good deal for us. Symes is quality but we've got a number of players of similar positioning and ilk to him already.
A young ruck/hardnut with pick28 could address a need we have much more than...
Yes but we dont really need to make any deals.
A young ruckman would have been nice, but everyone is after a young ruck.
No point in trading just for the sake of it. Our focus is on developing the squad we have and drafting players in under the current crop to push through in the coming...
Trade tracker is rooted, WTF does this mean:
TRADE THIRTEEN:
Adelaide receives: Western Bulldogs picks No.22 and No. 54.
Western Bulldogs receive: Ben Hudson and Adelaide’s pick No.43.
TRADE FOURTEEN:
West Coast Eagles receive: Western Bulldogs picks No.22 and No.54.
Western Bulldogs...
Right on. We went after him pretty hard a few years back without success. The only way I could see us picking him up is if he were to reinvent himself as a backline/midfielder - there's no room for him Motlop and Ebert up forward.
Choc is/was a big rap for the guy though.....
I find it a very interesting scenario. With Shulz I can't see how or why we would keep White, additionally i don't see how Shulz will fit into our first 22.
With Ebert, Motlop, Westhoff, Tredrea holding down the forward positions and midfielders rotating through it will be interesting to see if...
Especially in a draft year with Oden and Durant.
The mid season split round should be abolished in favour of a mid season break where all teams have a week off at the same time avoiding the problems of 2week break teams playing teams off 1 week break.
During this mid season break trading...
McPhee under Choco would be a revelation!
I'd love to see him at the Power and would happily give up White and a 2nd rounder.
I vaguely remember us being linked with him in the past....or is that just we are linked with every Essendon player at some stage?
I have no doubt that we are seen as a great academy for coaches and players but I think there is a limit to its effect.
High profile ex-players such as Buckley have a great deal of interests in Melbourne outside of footy. To walk away from them doesn't make any sense.
The same can be said...
I reckon he could be a decent pickup for the short term, depending on what we'd have to give up of course.
4th round pick I'd be happy with a guy like that at our club. He'd bring some much needed hardness in and under.
The Doggies are after anything above 6ft. I'd imagine they'd talk to port about White, and its already been suggested that they are after McGregor and Hudson as well.
I don't see anything on the Doggies list that we would be overly interested in player wise - the number 5 pick (Ebert) in a...
I bet they inadvertently meet through myspace, Then got "chatting" on MSN, and Eddie bribed him into a meeting at a local McDonalds with the promise of a 30cent icecream cone.
Be careful there young Mick.....a certain ex-captain of the camrys had a very similar allegation made against him not so long ago....
people in glass houses....
