don't know what was said to him over the break but he's been great since.

Putting his head over the nugget, going in and winning the ball and using it when he gets his hands on it.

Top work!

Thought Salopek probably should have got it, but nevermind, Danyle also played a terrific game - and is baulks are almost as l33t as Daniel Motlop these days. Opponents do realise he's a left-footer, yeah?

Tremendous effort Peacey - his last 3-4 weeks have been building towards it. Playing much more honest footy - head over the pill. When he plays like that, you forget about how small he is! Also thought his chasing, along with JB's was up a heap today.

Agree fully that both Sal and Shaun were instrumental in that win. JB from the second quarter on, was at his best. His best game for the year IMO, as he did it in the clinches. And Lonie had a good mix of creative running and kicking and some better hard ball efforts.

Haven't yet looked on other threads, but I was very pleased with the games of much of the side.
The balance also looked better out there. Stronger bodies around the ball (great double efforts from Logan and Cassisi in particular, while Thommo although fumbly and not prolific, dived in on several occasions to create opportunities for others). Lower, Chaplin and Pettigrew also seemed to do good jobs on their direct opponents.

Westhoff did a bit, while Tredders played one of his best goalless games in memory. Thought he beat Rutten today! Ebo and Mots worked their backsides off.

Chad struggled but kept Bock honest. Kane did what he had to. Rucks not so good IMO - not bad, but Maric was huge during parts of the match.

For the first time in a long while, we sustained intensity pretty much to the end.

nice to see danyle finally, has he had a sabbatical since winning the rising star, it would be good if pearcy could go find junior burger, cos this shaun bloke we have playing for us this year is shit, and i wish junior would come back.

well done pearcy, i have been the first to criticise u al year but today u were terrific, please stick around for the rest of your career instead of reverting to the old seagull form. wat a win!!

He is obviously maligned here for obvious reasons, but I think it's worth noting 3 reasonable games since he's been back and on the radio I heard he did a great run dwon chase and tackle AND kick a few (one was robbed).

I know he's had his knockers so has Pearcey, I am enjoying the under dog have some time in the sun, I hope they can do it consistently and become damaging players.

Salopek for next captain I reckon.

Lonie's game today was a good all-round performance and backed up well from last week. Against the Bulldogs there seemed to be alot more uncontested, standing on his own type stuff.

The nice thing about today's effort, is that it came in a Showdown which typically is a tight and hard encounter without much uncontested footy.
Good game Nathan! I'm actually looking forward to seeing him repeat the dose before the year is out.

Will it be enough for next year? I doubt it and inwardly hope not, as it's time for Choco to change the fabric of the playing group into a much more contested, team-oriented brand of players.

+1
Personally i would've off loaded Danyle last year & its good to see him come into some sort of form.

congrats danyle on winning the showdown medal. Why oh Why could this not happen throughout the year - why leave it so late?? So many players did better today than any other time this season - wonder what the bet was??? Their playing career?? Hope it was pride for the club!

Apart from 2-3 weeks, Pearcey has been good all year. Not great but good. As others have mentioned, he has really come on in the last 5-6 weeks and with some more development and improvement theres no reason why he couldnt become that very good player he showed in 06.

Great game by Pearce, primarily thanks to his endeavour and chase, but those two goals he got, well he's been trying to kick those two goals all year I reckon.

Will be interesting to see how he goes from here.
