Hille had 9 poss, 1 mark, 19 hit-outs, 3 clearances, 2 goals versus Sydney
Jolly had 20 poss, 9 marks, 23 hit-outs, 6 clearances and kicked 3.3 against Essendon. So I think our Jolly got the points over Hille that game.
And I would rate Jolly anywhere near Elite. Cox's the only outstanding...
In my opinion Goodes is a mix-bag, not a true inside-midfielder but not someone you associate as being out-right receivers (eg. Travis Johnstone). And that's what makes him unique, the ability to grab clearances (51 clearances since the first two games where he did very little), grab contested...
Thought he really stood out with those contested marks, and they are geniune paack marks under pressure too. I always thought that up numbers in possession doesn't mean anything, it's how you get them and what you do with them. Thought he and Kirk really kept us in the game all along.
In my view, he's really a vital player for us. His size and his engine are great assests and with him and Ted Richards in the backline, allows CB to take a medium/small and help out in the rebounding (since we really don't have any good small defenders - Bevan is much better as a...
Best form in the last few games for a few years (I was ready to see him let go at the end of last year), looks as though his body is helding up quite well and his hands are a lot stronger (and much less fumbles). :thumbsu:
I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt.
After all he's 194 and close to 100kg. If we see him as a midfielder (which he is), he has great straight-line burst speed, but his agility is also going to quite bad...so...
But wouldn't be too surprised to see him getting rubbed out though.
I had faith in him (and McVeigh)...
He's basically a upgrade on Matthews on everything aspect...just take Bevan out of the backline and there's less issue on his decision-making.
Brilliant set shot inside 50 (similar to Matthews lol).
We'll porbbly try that, but I don't think it'll work.
Goodes for me, is someone that needs a lot of touches to be effective, he needs his hands on the ball and feels as though he needs to involve in every play.
Making lots of unfruitful leads is not his forte (it's actually quite amazing the...
Just worried about his physique and how much tear and wear he's going to get against the bigger players. The last thing you want to see is a young star with some good games under his belt to get an injury. Power and Kerr are both good players, but more of Jack's size and weight than the Geelong...
I think definitely Kirk on Bartel.
I'm not too sure playing jack on either Corrie (who is in great form) or Gary Ablett, because I'm still a bit worried play him on the chunkier midfielders.
I might start him in the back line against Stokes and maybe start N. Ablett on Corrie and maybe Bevan...
Barry deserves to get the 6-8weeks he's likely to get. And if anything, karma caught up to him before the AFL could. It's an idiotic thing to do, he let the club down and deserves to be punished for it.
That's all. After that, the slate is clean for me.
Though it's funny to see WC fans...
Would have to somehow find the game tape, but I was certain that it was Leo chasing Tredrea's lead (and happened more than once), maybe Grundy or Richards was on the bench at that time, but fairly certain it was Leo.
I guess the point I'm trying to make is that he's struggling to mark KP...
I seem to recall him getting beaten to the lead quite a few times when he was on Tredrea. When Cornes moved to forward line, CB was on Cornes and Richards on Westhoff if I remembered correctly.
Ebert is not exactly a big though.
Once Spida comes back, I really don't see why Leo should get the nod over LRT in getting the second best tall. And I will play Ted on the third tall as well - should for me he should be playing on a small/medium forward.
But whether he is quick enough to match up on such a type is another...
5. Kirk - destroyed all his opponents, got plently of ball, disposed well and even mananged a goal.
4. CB - held Brown to one goal.
3. McVeigh - would not be surprised if he had earned a brownlow point in this game, making Fosdike's spot his own (and kicking goals!)
2. Bazza - good game, look...
Haha, I always had faith in McVeigh. He has decent skills in terms of evading tackles, disposals etc - he's just really bad defensively and prone to being down on confidence. Now that he's put in a Fosdike role - see how much that changed him and we have been rewarded for the past two weeks...
This is a silly thread, LRT is easily in our best 22, but as others have pointed out, as a CHB, not a second ruck.
When Spida is back, he should move back to the backline when he belongs and take on the second best big of the opposition (with CB taking the best big). And Richard as a third...
I thought Gehrig would be out for round 1.
They have Riewoldt and Kochinske, but they should also play two legimate small forwards in Milne and Schneider. And the likes of Clarke and Fiora thrown in. So I will at least bring Jack along.
LRT and Bolton should do the job, though Richards will be...
Anyone know what happened to Schmidt?
I'll put the kids right in since the saints are relatively small.
The team that I hope they would put out -
Leo C.Bolton Bevan
Kennelly LRT Mattner
Jack Kirk Buchanan
Jude Jolly Bird (if Ablett is injured)
Barlow Hall O'Keefe
Davis Magic McVeigh
Int...
Crouch's been a great servant, but I really think he should be done the best thing for him and the club and retire on a high (relative) last year. He had a record for conservative games, he has won a premiership - that's a pretty good career. Plenty of blokes that have achieved less (eg. Dixon...
They believe all that crap despite beating us because they flooded (we are hopeless in attack when the opposition floods).
And we still kicked more goals on average than them (on average) last year!
I'm sure there are a few other clubs that will be more than happy to play trial matches with us so that they don't have to play under ridiculous rules (that 9 point thing is just ridiculous, especially from 50m penalties, that and limited interchange) in the NAB.
And from this article...
With Malceski out, we need much better disposals and delivery from our midfielders. It's interesting reading from this website:
http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl/club/0,26579,19773,00.html
My pet stat in terms of attacking for midfielders is effective disposals % (there's no point...
Schmidt has to play! He had served his time at the ressies, proved to be an AFL-level player, he has to play if the management is serious about making use of his talent.
Spot on!:thumbsu:
Laidlaw will definitely benefit (providing he can stay fit), and Barlow would probably spend more time on the flanks then on the forward line now that Mattner is likely stay mainly on the HBF. I think Thornton is another that could be given a go, he's a tad undersize as a...
Saw the whole game and thought McVeigh did okay to good (won some clearances, some good switches of play).
I'm not as sold on O'Dwyer and Brabazon - they won some footy (and O'Dwyer kicked a goal), but I thought their foot skills and decision making skills were fairly average (sometimes outright...
Re: Nick Malceski - Possible ACL
Not it hasn't, but his knee just kind of went after he put pressure on it trying to turn (no impact at all), so it looks real bad, I think.
Just pray that it's only a medial or something like that...
Anyone has any idea which ACL torn Malceski torn earlier?
