I've just added the finishing touches to my footy stats app for Android... and it's now available for purchase from the Google Play store.
Just search for "Crunch AFL 2017".
Essentially it's a mobile database of game results from 2000-2017.
You then choose your search parameters; teams...
Just made my own! Free version is 'Crunch AFL 2011'.
Searchable database of nearly 2500 games (2000-2011).
Programming is such a steep learning curve... but what else to do while waiting for the footy to restart.
Grizzlym... I have a footy app that I've made for Android phones - "AFL Crunch" that I would love to get BigFooty feedback from (it's a searcheable database of 2500 games!). I would like to make a post... with a link/pictures... and invite people to download it and pass comment.
But I'm not...
Important games next week;
Dockers vs Blues.
Hawks vs Magpies.
Lions vs Swans.
If you look at the 8 possible outcomes (barring a draw of course)... in terms of winners - our final position - who we play in week one of the finals - it translates as below.
Dockers / Hawks / Lions - we're 5th...
I have to concur with m0zza.
Bellerive is shite when it comes to big crowds. Parking is horrible... and traffic comes to a stand still. At the Aus v WI 20:20 match I had to park with a mate at Eastlands... cram into one car... drop everyone off a block away... and then go and park (which I was...
How long have you followed the Hawks? Since I was about 6... so 34 years.
Why did you start following them? My Nan was a rabid supporter (she had pets named after the players).
Are we growing in popularity amongst school children? Definitely. I went to an Auskick game in Lonnie last...
I remember once having a conversation with a guy who couldn't cope with the concept that you could win the game and still end up with a lower percentage. It was early in the season... and some side had a % of 200 or something... and they had just won - but only by a goal or so... and I remarked...
Schoenmakers first crack... Gilham as plan B.
Gibson will be given a tall mobile forward (he is better suited to the likes of a Franklin / Reiwoldt type player).
When trying to break down factors define the status of a Club... I think you also have to include TV audiences. A slightly different variable to match-day attendence... but in the modern age something that is incredibly important.
TV ratings would affect your draw (eg. the number of Friday...
Not really...
A win by the Lions would see them win the home final. Granted that they have to play in Sydney - but it's a pretty big incentive. As a bonus this match is after the Carlton one.
Carlton can't afford to take the risk.
I don't think he has a gross mechanical problem... so his kicks have the appropriate depth (for his size) and trajectory.
As opposed to someone like Morton who kicks with far too much hang time.
Benny also seems to have a pretty good idea on where he is supposed to be kicking the ball... so...
The Cox decision was dumb... but who knows what goes through an umpire's head with ruck contests. Cox gets his fair share.
The Glass decision was an easy one for the umpire. Glass pushed Franklin under the ball with no intention of going for the ball. Glass ended up under the ball himself with...
I think top four... Geelong, Dogs, Saints, Hawks... could be pretty even.
Come September I think that Geelong and Hawthorn have structures that are best suited to finals footy... particularly in terms of quality inside mids.
The AFL is playing a giant game of musical chairs.
Unfortunately there are only 16 chairs.
You just have to pray that your side has it's shit together when the music stops.
It will be useless whinging about the cyclical nature of off-field fortunes when the hammer falls. And no, the AFL...
I'm not so sure about Carlton.
1) Forward line; plan A "kick it to Fev"... plan B (see plan A).
2) So called "talented midfield";
a) only runs in one direction
b) leaves a little to be desired in terms of kicking skills
c) not exactly intense at the contest
3) Back half? Yuck...
There are already a number of smaller 'boutique' stadiums that cater to sub-20K crowds and enable the home team to make a profit.
Aurora, TIO Stadium, Manuka...
I thought Bock did a great job on Buddy last night... would love to have someone of his ilk to help out Croad in the Hawks' defense.
But;
a) A lot of Bock's possessions were the Crows back and forth movement trying to make the upfield cluster dizzy.
b) When Buddy went up the ground chasing...
The big picture is the difference between thriving and surviving.
Sure... you could argue that the current Victorian teams are capable of surviving where they are. But how many of them could thrive?
The likes of Adelaide, West Coast, Collingwood are thriving. They can afford more coaching...
These two will be interesting cases;
Burgoyne did what he did a couple of times during the match... lined someone up and then turned his back on the collision. Interesting tactic... but I would have thought the head contact with Mitchell was incidental. Not worth four weeks.
McGlynn's...
How the Hell did it cost $13000? What did she do... get it done in a private hospital knowing she wasn't covered by insurance or DVA?
Besides, she should be thanking the MCC.
Better that her osteporosis is diagnosed early and treatment started now as opposed to waiting for the inevitable...
