I don't support any of the clubs in the finals and was just venturing an opinion after seeing Tim Bright play. He taps the ball to either 3 or 9 o'clock which does help opposition teams when they set up. He doesn't kick many goals i.e isn't in the top ten at Talbot which would suggest that he...
I would have to agree with Bluey here - Maldon have looked the goods for many weeks and I think Avoca just have too much depth for Talbot. Talbot relies heavily on Prickles (is there a better player in the league?) & Sherman to provide real class. They have Matt Bond who is a good forward and...
I agree that the MFC name will save us but I worry that to talk about a 5 year rebuild is too long. The problem is that our older players can be disappointing and they should be the basis on which we build a team. There is a real need for key position players especially down the spine.
The Trentham players really enjoyed playing at home, apparently the first time in 8 weeks. Horizontal sleet and rain makes for great playing conditions but both teams really guts it out in the second half.
The next two rounds will be pivotal
Carisbrook --- plays .... Trentham (H) ..... Royal Park (A)
Maldon ------ plays ...... Newstead (H)...... Harcourt (A)
Harcourt ----- plays ... Cam Creek (A) ...... Maldon (H)
Avoca ------ plays- ..... Rovers...
Our young players were terrible and the skills of the whole side was deplorable. Valenti showed that he could get the ball but couldn't hit a target. We didn't do the basics - didn't guard the mark just let Geelong run off and far too many kicks off one step.
We need to recruit some older...
Uncle Johnny, I see on page 26 of today's Mboro Addy that there is a heading the Natte Tigers?.
Is one of the journalists having a go at Royal Park or is there any substance to the rumour?
What benefit would there be for Royal Park? Natte denied very strongly that they were leaving the LPFL .
We don't have any forwards Didak - gone, Rocca finished, Medhurst a maybe
Brown gives the club a A+ leader- Pendles & Thomas will walk taller , Thomas might become less of a lair and be more consistent.
Brown is a great leader and Burnsie is having less impact recently. Brown will bring...
The last team to beat Harcourt at Harcourt was Carisbrook and Carisbrook will do it again with a win on Saturday by 4 goals. Better list - Harris, Wright & Ross all are capable of kicking good bags of goals.
Apparently Harcourt struggled against Dunolly in the second half and a few independent...
What Buckley said was correct Eddie didn't need to be there and he clearly didn't handle the situation well.
His jibes at Mark Robinson of the Hun calling him the Essendon man and saying Why didn't you write about Lovett was an ill considered remark and it just made eddie look like the bully...
Stanton has been fantastic in a team that is winning matches and his skills are much improved and of course McLean would get the number 1 tagger of the opposition. they have to tag someone there are few other choices at Melbourne, hence your position on the ladder.
Essendon's youngsters are...
Harcourt displayed all of their running game on Saturday with Stone, Hutchinson, Giri, McMurtrie and Hutchinson playing well. You would have thought that Delidio Park was their home ground as they repeatedly kicked goals on the run from the 50 and the boundary line. Dunolly had a very...
After this weekend round of matches the final five has been decided and while Rovers promised much earlier in the year, they have come up short. It says much for the league that a team that has recruited hard and played good footy, couldn't make the five whereas in past years they well have been...
I would have to agree he dominates centre bounce and boundary throw ins like no other ruckman in the league and as his long career in the BFL suggests, he knows where to position himself on the field. Sherman your Talbot bias is showing a bit Tim Bright is good but if you want to win a centre...
The Sunday match at Avoca was a great advertisement for the league, great crowd, good atmosphere but it certainly was chilly. Pilgrim was dominant in the ruck for Avoca and this must be an area of concern for Carisbrook. Carisbrook's forward line functioned well but they do rely on acts of...
Unfortunately the salary cap only exists because of the goodwill of all those involved with AFL i.e the AFL, Clubs and the Player's Association , however it has always been regarded as vulnerable legally and it only takes one action under Restraint of Trade - it will probably fall over just like...
Could I borrow your trainer wheels.
Melbourne could have 20000 MCC members but they do not contribute to the Melbourne FC. Only 7000 MCC members contribute $40 each to the Melbourne Football Club.
But Melbourne includes those 7000 in their membership which overstates the figure. Essendon...
This was clearly the agena and should hardly be a schock but with so much bad press about the McNamee sackings- Scwab may be getting cold feet - the old blood on the hands syndrome.
Have you noticed that Bailley gives press interviews against brick walls - is this to protect his back.
With...
thank you for the ringing endorsement but you should try reading the post
Melbourne includes 7000 MCC members who pay $40 only compare this to a full membership price or even a country membership.
p.s Richmond & Collingwood don't include their MCC members neither did Essendon when at the MCC...
I was surprised dee-molishon man that you didn't have a shot at the membership number.
Stynes quoted Melbourne as having
Adult 21, 925 con 2153 junior 5,541 total 29. 619 AFL figures
However honest Jim should have said that He included 7000 MCC members who pay the massive sum of $40...
What chance would McNamee have in getting Brown to Melbourne? He was the only person at Melbourne who could pull off the deal. He got McEnroe, Graf, Becker, Federer, the Williams sisters and a host of tennis players to the Hopman Cup and he did talk Greg Norman after a gap of 10 years and...
Lexton must be really be hurting over last weekends thrashing because they lost a huge amount of percentage and finals credibility. I heard if Rokewood forwards had converted better they would have kicked well over 30 goals.
Did Lexton have players mising? They really need to be up and firing...
Yes Steve Ross is number 23 and the other channce from Natte would be Chopper Jardine.
From Carngham Stasse, Greenbank, Pring and Ladidges get a heap.
From Skipton you have the Colonel
Navarre Driscoll has had a good season at full forward and Martin, some of their young players have some...
While I can accept that Laycock may have been fatigued and he wasnt the first footballer to miss a shot to win a match.
He has three faults that annoy most suporters
1. His habit of mistiming his jump at the centre bounces, how often is coming down or has hit the ground when the ball reaches a...
The issue is that Laycock is a professional footballer and some of his misses over recent weeks have been poor. If we are going to be a good team we have to hit the target and not keep excusing a guy who more than not doesn't deliver. If we were a premiership prospect would Laycock be in the...
