Gotta give it to Bevo, he's coached this team to exploit the rules as well as you possibly could.

Review Round 3, 2023 - Bulldogs vs. Brisbane Lions

Too many show ponies in this team and not enough role players. McStay for Hipwood/ Daniher is sounding pretty good right now.

Game Day Round 2, 2023 - Brisbane Lions vs. Melbourne

We look like such a better team with Berry in the middle and playing well. IMO he's just about our most important player.

Review Round 1, 2023 - Port Adelaide vs. Brisbane Lions

Great analysis. A lot of things going wrong but number 4 is the one that gets me when we are playing bad. It's like every player gets sucked into the tackle and leaves the obvious handball receiver open. Happens so many times.

Great umpiring to let that duck go, should have pinged him HTB though.

Proposal to include premierships dating back to 1870 gathering pace

What is the relevance of comparing Carlton's 22 premierships to the younger interstate teams? I could show you data where a 100 year old man has been on more holidays than a 14 year old - How is that insightful in anyway? All it tells us is that a 100 year old man has had far more opportunities...

Strategy Trade and List management Thread Part 5 (opposition supporters - READ posting rules before posting)

Dogs have a pretty good knack of drafting talent outside of top 10 picks so I reckon you will do alright out of the Dunkley deal. Never great to be losing top tier players however one thing I learnt when brisbane were losing players left right and centre during the go home 5 days was that its...

    Traded Josh Dunkley - [Traded with F3 (Melb), F3 to Brisbane for #21, F1, F2, F4 (Geel)]

There's quite a few rumours that he's not happy with the professional standards at the dogs and doesn't fit into the party boy culture. Not sure if the rumours of Libba ruling the roost are true, but if so it's not a great look to be holding onto him when he has been trying to get out for a...

    Traded Josh Dunkley - [Traded with F3 (Melb), F3 to Brisbane for #21, F1, F2, F4 (Geel)]

They will both be worth more in a few years time. Never sell low. Regardless of value right now, we won't be trading either of our most promising kids from last years draft.

    Traded Josh Dunkley - [Traded with F3 (Melb), F3 to Brisbane for #21, F1, F2, F4 (Geel)]

With 2 first round picks off the table is it time for the Lions and Dogs to look for player alternatives? I reckon a package that included Darcy Fort and Mathieson could be quite attractive for the Dogs? Gives them a much needed depth ruckman if English was to go down and then Mathieson should...

Moved Thread James Hird - is it time to give him a second chance at coaching an AFL club? Gil says yes! - The PEDs Forum Version

I've always found this line of argument quite interesting. How do you quantify they didn't work? Why did they go to so much effort to use them if they felt they didn't help? Quite clearly Hird thought he was onto something special. "Not as good as us in that department". The line rolled out by...

The Bulldogs and Umpires: Time for a Royal Commission?

Not sure, you'd have to take that up with Mike who is sharing the data.

The Bulldogs and Umpires: Time for a Royal Commission?

Well I think the evidence it's all in this thread over the last few pages. The data that _Mike_ shared was fantastic. It shows a slightly differential of head high frees A massive anomaly towards in the back Both of these data points strongly correlate to the observations made by many that...

The Bulldogs and Umpires: Time for a Royal Commission?

My comments are in relation to earlier discussions re: Luke Beveridge. He has very smartly identified that the AFL wants the game to move quickly, so all these "little gives", "Flicks" and dropping the ball see a blind eye. It has been a very clever strategy and worked well for him over a...

The Bulldogs and Umpires: Time for a Royal Commission?

Do you honestly think the umpire standing less than 10 metres away, right infront of Mcrae when he threw that wasn't able to identify that as a throw?

The Bulldogs and Umpires: Time for a Royal Commission?

I shared examples of the types of throws that are going unpaid with footage that clearly highlights the umpires have a clear view yet haven't paid them. Highly relevant to the discussion - This is a serious issue for some as it is ruining the game and it was a great example of what the dogs get...

The Bulldogs and Umpires: Time for a Royal Commission?

I'm not sure how many you have seen but I think they are not being paid across the board. I think where it gets interesting is how often teams are throwing it and under what circumstances. I think there's 2 types of throws: 1. The caught in a tackle, got an arm pinned can't really do anything...

The Bulldogs and Umpires: Time for a Royal Commission?

Of course Bevo would take exception to this - He has coached his team to take advantage of the rules for a long time. I think Lavender Bushranger said it best - The afl wanted a fast style of play and Bevo took advantage of it knowing anything that kept the ball moving forward would see a blind...

    2014 Trade/FA Discussions

Yeah I feel a gun mid or forward would be a better option than Ryder. Still doesn't change my thoughts that poor Leuey just can't get on the park for enough game time be considered a "lock" ruckman for the next 5 years.

    Footy Brawl - Ban Grog?

Time to ban violent people. So sick of the media prefacing every violent event with "x person was drunk / on drugs". Fact is some people in society thinks its perfectly ok to start a fight every now and then or bash someone senseless. They are violent people and that is the root cause. Not...

    2014 Trade/FA Discussions

Sad to see it going this way but you are right. We can't rely on Leuenberger to be our number 1 ruck anymore. It would be great to see him get a good run with injuries but the club can't bank on this happening, it's too big of a risk.

Can North go all the way?

Good chance against the swans IMO. Still it's hard to see them making it all the way through. I'd love to see a club win the premiership from the bottom half of the top 8. Spice things up a bit.
