Nice, congrats! I liked the standard actually - was good to watch, especially if both were lower table teams, I'll be very happy to watch more QAFL!
I will tell you a secret tho, I went thinking I'll get behind Sherwood 'cause they are close to where I live (5 stations on the train is basically door to door). But when I got there and saw Collingwood strips it caused a shudder And then I noticed the visitors were nicknamed the Gorillas and I think my mind was made up (so you can thank me for putting the mozz on them haha).

But! I fell in love with the bar & cafe stall setup - that was very enticing. I couldn't afford to drop a dime so I didn't spend anything today, but I'll be pleased to spend there next time I drop in!

Yeah the QAFL standard has really gone up since they blew up the NEAFL and the player influx into the QAFL started.
5 stops is very close, beats travelling to watch us at Noosa or Palm Beach
Thanks for that Mozz haha, personally I hate the magpies colours but it seems to follow me (I was at the Southport Sharks until recently who also play in black/white and sing the Magpies theme song )

I had a very good time and it's more than that for me, because I've been out of the world for ages, and this was my first purely recreational experience since prolly about 2012ish. So it was therapeutic, hell it was straight up medical! When I start earning a living I'll be checking out much more footy and also catching some arts and shiz around town!

But for now, here's Wilston Grange kicking a point and then a goal in the opening stanza. I tried to capture more stuff but I'd stupidly walked around the far side and the sun was being annoying. I also hate looking like someone who has their phone out.

Thin pinstripes. I was remarking that they were Avoca colours but in truth, while Avoca do wear red, white and blue verticals, they are broader, a la Hawthorn or Collingwood stripe breadth. Yeah they're kinda cool but any colours look nice when lined up against Pies colours

I'm gonna guess that they might be the result of a combine - Wilson Grange was probably Wilston FC & Grange FC in the past, and one might have had red/white colours and the other blue/white ... something like that. If only somebody compiled an encyclopaedia of footy clubs that I could check ... a footy ... pedia ... if you will ...

Unless a handshake between clubs happened before WW2, this club has always a stand-alone entity that just happened to share two suburb names! However there was some kind of association with Kedron, it seems, at one point. Unsure what happened there!

I believe there's been some variations such as the QFL and the QANFL, but you're probably right about the AFLQ only being the overseeing body.

I'm slowly gathering that the reason I was sucked in to be a rookie was because of my government funding / rorts connections and the off-the-books cashflow from the collection plates.

Have to ease up a bit now that the pre-season expenses have been covered, the diocese beancounters are raising an eyebrow at their reduced cut.
