Mate, you don't know how much I'd love to take you and your Mrs up on the offer of a threesome. Only problem is that I live in
QLD these days and I'm not driving down to VIC just or a ******* podcast you campaigner but nice try. o_O

Sun Ra old buddy, we have these amazing devices nowadays that allow us to speak to each other over long distances. No road trips necessary, well unless the Turbos take you up on your menage a trois offer.

Just make sure you work out the safe word first.

Apologies Braklet, I tend to use osmosis to communicate as it's less messy and more effective than any alternative.
However if I have to stoop to communication via "language" then, I guess you gotta do what you gotta do ?

I was lucky enough to see Willie Dixon in a tiny venue around 1989. Old dude but good show.

You are a lucky man.
Living in OZ it's harder to see great people because they don't come here so much, too far away.
However, I have seen the following people play live here, in no particular order ....
Peter Tosh
Bob Marley
David Bowie (Heroes Tour MCG) (free)
Art Pepper
World Saxophone Quartet
Jan Gabarek
Nina Simone
Sonny Stitt
Steve Ray Vaughan
Miles Davis (free)
Buddy Tate (free)
Joe Henderson
Slade
ABBA (free)
ELO (free)
Bob Dylan (free)
Lee Konitz
Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock

:)

At the time, I lived in Southern California so yeah, lots of music around. Most of it not good.

Focusing on blues, some of the best shows were part of this event:

I took guitar lessons from the festival director, so we got to hear about the lineups early. Had the good fortune to see 1987-1990, then I relocated South.

Brilliant list there, you are a lucky man as well.

I forgot I also saw Dollar Brand / Abdullah Ibrahim ..... I probably have forgot others, I am sorry.

Hey Braklet - what do you make of this ?

Like it! Don't know how to characterize it though. Rhythm clearly on the half-step, not reggae but somewhere around that. Also samba in there. Sounds almost dub-like with the delay effects on the percussion.

Totally hits me where I live with the very light, almost minimal effects on the stringed instruments. Spring reverb for sure, but it sounds almost live in studio.

One thing that kinda bugged me were the harsh transitions between each solo.

Good stuff!

Never messed with one of those echo boxes, got old skool spring reverb in my Peavey amp though. Crank it up and you sound like Link Wray!

Ross Hannaford unfortunately no longer with us was probably the greatest "feel/groove" guitar player
we have had. Absolute legend. Here is some more ....

Something like Cornell Dupree if you get me .... ?

I remember with great fondness the podcast when TheCoach16's aunty joined in, and HaroLad beat up Citroin in his bedroom..

Now THAT was entertainment!! šŸ˜†
I still hear those screams in the later hours of the night

A non-Bomber guest on that podcast threatened me with legal action if I didn't remove it.

A travesty.
