Re: (08/09) Superbowl XLIII: Arizona vs Pittsburgh

People were saying "game over" after 1 arizona drive in the first quarter here on BF!
Gridiron is probably the most momentum shifting game there is.
It's been good the last decade or so with SBs tho.
A lot of exciting close games.
Titans-Rams, Rams-Pats, Pats-Panthers, Giants-Pats, Steelers-Cards.

I may be a tad biased here, but go a couple of games earlier in SB XXXII Broncos-Packers... ripper game which was in the balance all day... up and down football. Fantastic to watch, obviously I enjoyed it, but many neutral observers loved the plays and how tense the final drives were.

Re: Superbowl Champion prediction

Not a bad prediction there Riggy. You seem to know your stuff. If you can get on a roll for next season during the regular season, there is no reason why you can't WIN some serious $$$ in the tipping comps we have on BF. Yet to have a multiple comp winner although a couple guys really gave it a shake in the last two seasons.
Um. Im not sure why it wasnt bad.

I tipped Steelers to win the coin toss. Wrong
I tipped the Steelers to kickoff. Wrong
And I tipped the team to receive the opening kickoff to lose. Wrong

what wasnt so bad? I was off on everything.

Re: Superbowl Champion prediction

I can finally post on here! Congrats to all the Steelers fans, especially Woodson.

Believe it or not I am yet to watch the game in full (damn work) but its good we had another close one. I heard someone on the train the other day talk about liking "superbowl" as though that was the name for Amercian Football. Made me cringe.. but hey, atleast people are talking about it.

Re: (08/09) Superbowl XLIII: Arizona vs Pittsburgh

Just watching the Pro Bowl, and they showed the replay of the 100 yard int in the superbowl.

Its Rolle's fault for the loss.

He was right up on the boundary, and got in Fitzgeralds way, and bumped him.

IF he wasnt there Fitzgerald (who tackled Harrison at the Goaline) would of tackled him and stopped the TD. -4 point from Pittsburgh and what would of been the result? OVERTIME!!!!!!!!

Blame Rolle

Re: (08/09) Superbowl XLIII: Arizona vs Pittsburgh

Well first off congrats to WOODSON.My SB story goes..........
I landed in Melb at 9:30am SB morning and by the time the lazy twats got my bags sorted it was bloody 10:30 and of coarse I need to get to f***ing Donvale. So half way through the second quarter I show up and get to see the glorious Channel 10 coverage which quite frankly was absolute shyte. I mean, I felt like I was watching an episode of chop cut rebuild. The flow of the SB was awful on top of what I thought was a lack luster game till the final q. I saw more of bloody Aussie punters than I did of SB freakn highlights and then I get to see Aussie rules half time show:confused: WTF!??? Well I guess I get to suffer along with the rest of you guys now, but what a rude bloody awakening for me after US coverage for.....ever.I guess the only good thing was it actually in HD. I think Ill be looking for some direct feeds next season.
Channel 10  absolute chicken ****

I liked Contras comment Ill end with that.

What a ****ing shockers - it's like pulling a beautiful woman getting her home and then finding out she is a trans.

I do believe that game is no longer counted as the Broncos were found to have been over the Salary Cap that season.

BIG * for Little D in that one.

:p:mad:

That was a great game one of the best ever.
Hand off Davis walking,Standing can you say Denver in the lead:)

Rhetorical question time.

Would that have happened if you hadn't been over the salary cap? Nalen, Schlereth, who else? weren't all your lineman at some stage Pro Bowlers?? Must've cost a fair bit to keep them together...

Lets not forget their dirty cut blocking scheme also... what about the drug cheat Romanowski??

I wonder what would've happened if the Packers DIDN'T lose 8 starters from the previous year??

All genuine questions which will never be answered unfortunately...

Re: (08/09) Superbowl XLIII: Arizona vs Pittsburgh

Both Broncos SB wins came from acknowledged Salary Cap cheating.
Something Al Davis likes to mention often.
But i guess it's true and takes the sheen off those wins.

It takes nothing off those wins. We didn't gain any on-field advantage. It was more to do with deferring payments, paying players in particular seasons less to allow us to pay for the new stadium.

The Broncos had to put up around $100 million toward the new stadium, and that was a struggle for the franchise. They basically went into The Bank of Elway and Davis and took out a loan. They weren’t trying to squeeze cap room for their championship run. By all accounts, that money still counted against the cap. They weren’t trying to cheat the sport itself.

Re: (08/09) Superbowl XLIII: Arizona vs Pittsburgh

Well I'd need one to wave one, but dont worry, I gave plenty. My larynx can testify to that.

Got a surprise call from Woodson in the afternoon - havent spoken with him personally before but it was an excellent call - I guess any call between two Steeler fans post victory cant go far wrong.

Quoting myself, but just wanted to make sure he got due credit....as mentioned above Woodson called me for a chat. In conversation he mentioned that he wanted my address to send me something for our newborn son.

Sure enough, today a Steeler bib arrived.

No reason for him to do this other than being a top bloke. Even though he's probably going to hate me posting this, I think he deserves the public acknowledgement.

Thanks mate, my wife was stoked and I'm sure William will be as well as soon as he is old enough to support the mighty Steelers.

Welcome to back home Galactic. You would of loved it had you joined the troopers at the Brighton Bar... most of loving it as the mirror reflection of the NFC Conference Championship was being shown for the passive 'bandwagon happy' Cardinal crowd. If i didn't expect such an overwelming Cardinals 'underdog' crowd, then I'm just kidding myself.
