I think lots of Div 2 clubs would be glad to see it happen. From what i hear no one likes playing against them, their supporters are feral, ground is shocking, not friendly or welcoming etc

That's fantastic about Jarrod. Pretty big gaff by the league

Really?
If they fold it makes the comp go down to 6 teams doesn't it?
Then it puts the whole division 2 on shaky ground IMO.
Personally I hope they can pull through.

Great effort from Jugga, well deserved. All the talk of money and stuff, just shows what taking a punt and networking can bring as in wandins case. I am sure Jugga has made a lot of friends outside of the YV and is creating the excitement that you need when retaining players or recruiting. It's all a sell and the sell is working.

Sad to hear of Kinglakes battles, they were a fantastic group in 2009 and really took it up to us, I hope everyone can stick it out, most clubs go through hard times but you have to believe there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Massive week again this week, sides are battling relegation, others are looking at getting a shot at finals.
Going to be another year like last year, whoever finishes last would be very disappointed and will probably look back on 1 or 2 close ones with big regrets.

There's 8 teams in Div 2 so it would take it down to 7.
The league would have to do some re-jigging i would have thought. 8 in Div 2 9 in Div 1
Or they would have to try and get another club in. Coldstream has been on the cards for a number of years.

Yea's performances on field and lack of numbers surely isn't sustainable either. They need a reshape, and maybe a new league to attract some quality players (surely not an attractive option for them to play teams on the south of the divide?). That'd leave even numbers. IMO, combining the divisions, alas u18's, is the best way. Otherwise Div 2 teams play each other 3 & 4 times.

I understand there will be a huge difference in class initially, but think it could be overcome. I also think it could further strengthen the amount of under 18's coming through, which is a huge long term problem in our league. Only my opinion and I'm sure there are as many negatives to it as there are positives o_O

There would be a huge difference in class! Can you imagine a team like Powelltown or Alexandra playing Upwey? Woori? In fact Alexandra went to division 1 after winning the grand final and got smashed on a weekly basis by 200 points!
Clubs like powelltown/junction would fold eventually or would have to merge (can't see that happening)

Healesville are doing that in Div 2 now.

Whats with the questions to me?
I have spoken about Belgrave recruiting A grade players such as Mitch Collins who is currently sitting second on the goal kicking after missing the first 4 matches of the season, i also mentioned Dave Collins who has played over 50 senior games at VFL level and was in the top 20 of the VFL league medal last year. I dare say that speaks as high as Bayliss making the VCFL team (that is no disrespect to Bayliss either as its a huge effort and he is clearly an A grader in this Comp) to suggest these 2 blokes are not A graders in this comp would be an outrageous statement wouldn't you agree?
Bayliss has done a fantastic job with Wandin and they way he can recruit is a credit to him but do you honestly think that most coaches in the YVMDFL couldn't recruit with the money Wandin have. Once again no disrespect to Wandin or Bayliss but seriously what a dumb comment.
Look at Emerald - yes there not in the top 5 but most of there list is local lads that Taylor has either got back to the club or managed to retain there on a budget that wouldn't be a whisker to Wandin's
Look at the club i follow Belgrave - you want to talk about achievements, lets talk. Ben Collins and Sean Stanton have turned this club from a cellar dweller in div 2 to a real contender in div 1 within 18 months. They have been able to recruit good players and retain all there local boys on the same budget as Emerald. Even you would have to agree its has been a great effort as nearly everyone didn't give them a chance at the start of the year.
Look at Woori - I don't claim to know there budget but i would bet it's not even close to Wandin's but they seem to get to the business end of the season year in year out.

To finish, i am not bagging Wandin by any means, good luck to them if they have the money to spend and recruit like they have but don't come on here and same what an amazing job they have done because they haven't achieved anything yet. I'd imagine the Wandin faithful would have the belief thats its a premiership or bust where as the likes of Belgrave who i support would be over the moon to make finals and if some way they could win a premiership this year what an achievement it would be.
Do I honestly believe other coaches couldn't recruit as well??? What a laugh you must be kidding if you think that's not a DUMB comment!!! You can spend as much money as you like but if the place isn't somewhere people wanna really be except for the money your wasting your time. For some reason your getting confused with what my opinion of an A grade is. The enthusiasm of youth and success brought into a club that only recently was still flogging the idea of poor old Andy Goodwin can keep bringing success until his 60. Jarrod has changed the culture and style of that club to bring a new lease of life and a totally different outlook. A place where kids coming through all feel a huge part of it and aren't pushed to the side or intimidated about the transmission to senior footy. The scary part is he's only gonna get better at it. So as for leading goal kickers or ex VFL players find out for me how Belgrave faired when John Rombotis was over there cause it sounds to me like you must have only supported that beautiful club built on top of a tip for that last 18 months of slightly better times there. Maybe you could also enlighten me on why Emerald were a power house juniour club in the era that Josh came through yet all there talented kids played played seniors elsewhere? Winning a premiership would be great but I think you would find if ya had a look at it from a realists point of view Wandin were on level pegging with Alexandra a very short time ago and most Saturdays were only celebrating a win from the netball courts. It appears to me they now have very strong netball sides, u/18's, reserves and seniors. To me that's builds success better than any individual recruits!!

Dont think you can bag Wandin for getting Goodwin back to coach one of the reasons there still in Div 1.

Out of interest how many of Wandins U/18 premiership side are playing senior footy this year?

Curran, d.ladner, McPhee, Rowe, law, wisby are the boys to have played I'm told. Plus hinds who is fresh out of the 16s.

Yes I looked for a total of ten games just check the Results Section from 2012 GF and click on a player gives you all the details. Curran has 6 of those.

Dunno, the totals would be interesting to compare. I would suggest woori's would be a fair total, upway I would have no clue. Regardless it shows that junior development is a fair indicator for senior success.

Correct my mistake 20 games in total Rowe 1 Curren 6 Ladner 5 Wisby 5 Mcphee 3.

What would Woori's be or Upwey for that matter.
Woori has played 47, could have been more
Well done to wandin in finding the money and recruits no one is saying that its paying beyond there means
But don't deflect the fact that they are spending it
Clubs have spent up big in the past with mixed results

Id have thought after a premiership in the Under 18's the numbers after 12 rounds would be up around 60+

Nowhere have I stated they aren't spending money. What I have said that as long as its within thier means what's the problem and that it's my understanding that the amount the football club is actually spending isn't as much as some want to believe. People can go round in circles stating how much, or too much and so on about them but at the end of the day ONLY the committee and prob the coach know the exact figure, which accounts for no one on here.I would be astounded if they were risking the farm for a premiership knowing how shrewd the president is with money and how hard he and others have had to work to get to this point.
In short everyone has thier own opinion and the above is only mine gained from the pieces of info I have gathered from friends at the club. what I can near on guarantee is the club and its constituents aren't beside themselves getting on here and gleaning over the posts regarding them. I think you'll find they are fairly comfortable with where they are at both on and off field.

Not sure I'm out of line here! You the flog got on here and posted something that was yet again proven to be incorrect!!! And then once again started to back pedal! Is it that hard to sit back have a good think about what your writing and ask yourself "is this actually fact"? Is it that hard ?
