At the end of the day, the game was only worth 4 points, so who cares where the loss ranks in the history of the AFL. Will anyone care that Geelong got destroyed by Brisbane today if they go on and win the flag? No.

So, GET OVER IT!

But Freo ain't going to go on to win the flag.

It is a something that hardly ever happens, so let people enjoy it.

You would if it was WCE, and god knows everyone has been loving Carlton's records recently.

My advice if you don't wanna hear it, don't come on big footy for a couple of days & call in sick to work for the first few days of the week :thumbsu:

If we are going back and comparing stats, surely only those post 1990 are relevant. Why hark back to the VFL? I'm not saying not to do so but if we are lets bring the SANFL and WAFL stats into the analysis as well.

I think most people will agree with you. Things have changed since the VFL days - they used to have shorter quarters so there was less time to score - anything from 1990 or 1991 (whenever the AFL officially started) should be the start for statistics like this. I lvoe statistics, especially useless ones that noone will ever care about - Adeladie has held three teams goalless in a half this year- the only team to come close to that is St kilda who held Richmond scoreless for two consecutive quarters, Melbourne to four behinds in the second half and Sydney to two behinds for two consectuive quarters.

I don't think we'll ever see either of these remarkable statistics beaten in the future, then again I never thought an AFL team would kick one goal in a match again before tonight.

First hundred point win of the year too. Knocks off St Kilda who previously had the biggest winning margin of 2009 - 97 points. thanks a lot crows.

The stats can be found in this book. Note the line at the bottom. ;)

The AFL was born from the VFL. That is why.

Well a certain Freo mod on this site sees no reason for alarm. They think Hawthorn are much worse.
Their fans are a disgrace... wouldn't surprise me if they clapped them off. The sooner this rabble is booted from the comp the better. To think they let Port & Freo in the comp, yet Tassie aint allowed.

It's one thing for teams like Fitzroy to lose by 6 goals to 1 against North or Carlton 8 to 1 against Footscray when the game was played in atrocious conditions with players lucky to kick the ball more than 25m.

But to lose by over 100pts on a perfect surface and with near perfect weather conditions except for a couple of very short light showers is an absolute disgrace.

A suburban side could have done better than that tonight.

To put this into perspective, disregarding weather related low scoring games such as the ones i mentioned above, there have only been 3 instances of a team scoring less than Fremantle's 1.7.13 and losing by 100+ points. St Kilda twice in 1899 and once in 1902. Being compared to St Kilda from that era is as low as it gets considering the Saints won just 2 of their first 100 games!

Freo....the challenge is now on to beat St Kilda's 0.1.1 against Geelong 23.24.162 from 1899!
