That would be awesome. While I was throwing around options for H to go, I dont think he will. I think BS will convince him to stay

I may have missed something, and apologies if I did, but why are we assuming that McIntosh wants to leave? He probably considers himself, with good reason, the number 1 ruckman.

Yeh but imagine for a second, we could trade him for a skinny developing ruckman. Then if this new ruckman comes on really quick we can trade off Majak, Mabon and Goldstein as a package to get a top 30 pick we can use to get a second developing ruckman.

In 10 years we'd then have the best 2 28yo ruckmen in the league. Unless we traded one of them in the meantime for another developing ruckman which we should probably consider.

Because with the sub rule in place he might be feeling the heat for a spot in the side since Goldstein is fast becoming a genuine class ruckmen and McIntosh would struggle to play anywhere else on the ground expect maybe forward.

I don't want to lose him either, but we might not have a say in the matter. I reckon teams like Port would be hot on their hills to get him since other then Brogan they lack long term or even short term ruckmen. Brogan will retire at years end.

Do you really think he will remain number 1 ruckman by end of next year?

Goldy had over 50 hit outs against Melb and Syd, he is going to be in elite category in ruck department

although he hasnt lived up to his potential, id love to see danyle pearce in our side.

he is a genuine slick footballer, has the x factor, and can hit targets. reminds me of Wells a bit.

I reckon it could be a win/win for both clubs.

Jamar was out when we played Melbourne. Mumford was out when we played the Swans.

Don't get me wrong - I LOVE Goldie - but compare his year to Hamish's last year and you'll see who's the better ruckman

Just as I thought we couldn't get any slower everyone wants to play 2 ruckmen.

If this was to happen Hansen would have to be shifted back or dropped out of the team.
As the resting ruckman would have to play forward up to 85% game time.

Forward set up would look like

adams drewy wright
Thomas azza hamish

There are a lot of assumptions being made here with no fact behind them.

There has been no indication, not even a sniff of a rumour, that he wants to leave.

McIntosh finished last year as part of possibly the best ruck combo in the comp. Why wouldn't this still be the case in hs mind?

We would be less than a zero chance to willingly trade him.

2 ruckman in the one side won't work and we need to trade for some decent decision makers who use the ball well.

I don't want him to go but for the good of the side and for Hamish i hope he's moved on.

Essendon are playing 3 ruckmen and Bellchambers is the best of the lot. Seems to be working alright for them.

Are you expecting Goldstein to continue to ruck on his own? He will be retired by 25 if he does.

I thought this was a joke thread when I started reading...

I can't believe the short memories BF posters have! H and Goldie worked great together when they were both fit - one floating forward as a target or even to just crash a pack.

Wait until we get big H back into the team and then you'll realize how important he was to us.

The only problem is the reduction of the bench and the introduction of the sub, playing a second Ruck is more difficult with (essentially) one less player spot.

Damn it! He still IS our number 1 ruck!

While Goldie has done a terrific job covering H, when he returns and finds some form he will be the first ruck picked

Yeh and perhaps Garlett deserves a game ahead of Cunnington but it's not gonna happen. Same with Goldstein and McIntosh. If Goldy keeps improving then he will be picked as the primary ruck every day of the week.

If I was McIntosh I would simply see it as a possible good career move to look elsewhere for better opportunity. Not that I want him to go because we really have stuff all ruckmen that are ready besides Petrie and using Petrie if Goldy was injured would just suck.

The time has come. We need to take a risk and make a big trade at end of season. If it doesn't come off I can live with the fact that we atleast had a go at trying to pick up a gun from another club. The two players on my wish list both have some serious ex factor, but both look diss illusioned with there current clubs and North Melbourne would be the perfect fit for either Travis Boak or Colin Sylvia. I think the unlucky one in all of this has to be Hamish Mcintosh. With Goldstein rucking well and Majak Daw looming as a potentiol back up ruckman I think the time has come to release Mcintosh for a quality class act with a bit of ex factor from another club and Boak or Sylvia would be the two id have a go at.

Other potentiol trades?

Pratt to GWS for decent draft pick
Scott Thompson to GWS for decent draft pick
Brady Rawlings to GWS for decent draft pick if he wants to go
Lachie Hansen for anything
Lindsay Thomas for anything
Matt Campbell for anything

Pratt to GWS for decent draft pick- I thought K Sheedy gave up the piss?
Scott Thompson to GWS for decent draft pick- you should give up the piss!!
Brady Rawlings to GWS for decent draft pick if he wants to go (NN throws rope over steel beam in garage)
Lachie Hansen for anything-- (NN stands on chair)
Lindsay Thomas for anything--(NN ties rope around his neck)
Matt Campbell for anything--( NN takes a leap of faith)

He hasn't played this season. It's nothing personal against him at all. It's about structure and IMO goldy plays forward better than HMAC. I just think to get something good you have to risk something good and im sick of trading duds for duds.

 Ooh boy! You realise Boak just re-signed with us? Yes, we need ruck support for Brogan, but your proposal is plain offensive.

This is what we need

Jonathon Patton
May 20, 1993, 197cm, 95kg (Eastern Rangers)
He's just a big powerful forward. He's got a great mark and is a great kick for goal. I've been in the TAC Cup for a very long time and haven't seen a power forward like him before for a very long time. He's got characteristics like a Jonathan Brown or Wayne Carey. He's pretty quick as well.
or
Sam Gordon
March 31, 1993, 197cm, 87kg (Geelong Falcons)
He's a big strong unit who will play full forward. He attacks the ball really well and is a beautiful kick
not a another mid

Sounds like Patton is GWS bound. He'll be top 3 from what I've read.
We'd need to be giving up a wells type for that high a pick. Won't happen.
