Re: 1. Jay Neagle

Definite claytons de-listing. Good luck on the rookie list. Clubs find it very hard to cut the father/son umbilical cord. If it wasn`t for his surname he would have gone 2 years ago, he has the worst body language at quarter time and 3/4 time huddles I have ever seen. He is lazy and looks dis-interested. His father was my favourite Essendon footballer of all time, from what I can gather he was a bit of a hard arse off the field Merv, hopefully he gives his boy a rocket.

Meanwhile, Hird said delisted forward Jay Neagle was making a strong case to be given a second chance in December's rookie draft.

Neagle has been promised a rookie spot if he can meet standards set by Hird before the December 7 draft.

“Jay has been training really well and doing some extra sessions to get his body where it needs to be in time for the draft,” Hird told essendonfc.com.au.

“We have spoken about the targets that he needs to meet to be an Essendon player and if he is able to meet those, then we will be true to our word.”

"He's been training really well, doing some extra sessions and getting his body to where it needs to be to play AFL football," Hird said at Essendon training on Monday morning in Keilor Park.

"We've set some standards he needs to meet and I'm pretty confident he'll meet those."

However, Neagle has nominated for Thursday night's NAB AFL Draft - to be held on the Gold Coast - in the hope of being picked up as a senior player by another club.

"We haven't spoken about that with Jay. We've spoken about the targets he needs to meet to be an Essendon player," Hird said.

Ben mentioned that you have to nominate for ND in order to qualify for the RD. Is that correct?

I don't believe they have much contact, Merv's up north still I think with his other missus & kids.

Re: 1. Jay Neagle

Guys, is Neagle anywhere near getting a game for you guys? I only ask because I have a bet on with BtG over who plays more games out of him and Jurrah. Without knowing any current info, surely he'd find it almost impossible to crack into such a strong team.

Re: 1. Jay Neagle

Cheers mate, one slab coming my way around October then. Hehehehe. Good thing Jurrah has more mental strength than the likes of R. Roberts and T. Taylor... that's basically what BtG was basing his hard-earned on.
