Was pretty good little interview. The pressure would be very tough for Majak. I'd love to see him play this year just so he can get a taste for it. Hopefully against GWS.

Really feel for McKinley. He is not a bad footballer by any means but is just a bit one dimensional for AFL footy. Now that our midfield is up and running I would like to see him get a run.

Yeah Maj spoke very well, and Bon's definitely working on his development.

Ben McKinley's another great bloke. Far from the dickhead some would paste him as here. An intelligent, very well spoken and humble bloke who's fully aware of where he stands at present, but that won't stop him doing all possible for his present team. "Win the grand final then see what happens", I recall him saying.

Good luck to him I say.

Ben McKinley spoke really well and came across as a terrific bloke and leader. I agree that he's not quite at AFL standard, but he's the type of guy who'd make a great development coach one day. Really positive attitude and I'd keep him on as a player welfare type person.

I don't mind Ben McKinley, didn't know much about him, but he seems like a really good bloke and he is still a North Melbourne listed player who has absolutely busted his arse for no reward this year.

Who knows, he may still get one more chance this year.... possibly this week?

Got to be more than a good bloke and hard worker to get chances at AFL level - look at what Cunners did at that level despite poor AFL form, that is standard the other VFL players need to reach to get a call up.

In saying that, both of them spoke brilliantly. McKinley handled his questions well and would be a excellent mature influence around all our younger kids. I didn't couldn't really listen to Majak properly - was distracted by the size of him, what a huge/fit unit! Might have been on some of Artichoke's 'jumble juice'.... :p

McKinley isn't a midfielder so you can't expect him to have 32 touches a game and 3 goals. However, being a forward you can expect him to take marks and kick goals, which he has done week in week out for Werribee. For a forward he is the one who has been setting the standard for the last two years.

Which hasn't been good enough regardless of which way you look at it, as he is one of few that hasn't got a look in this year.

He has done OK going by the match reports, and good on him, but surely at his age he needs to be absolutely dominating VFL standard to expect a call up?

Its hard not to feel a little bit for guys like McKinley and Warren.

The reality is though AFL is a tough gig, and only a select few ever really make it. At least they can say they gave it their best shot.

interesting that Brad Scott wants Daw to have more consistency in his game... Pretty sure some players who played earlier in the year didn't have consistency in the VFL.

That fits though, doesn't it? Daw's highlights and better work is apparently AFL level, but he drops out of games for too long, leading some to suggest he'll never make it. With his public profile, the more AFL-ready he is when he debuts, the better.

Maybe the case but so do many other players... I just found it interesting what was said. It definitely seemed to me that he was a long way off from playing AFL footy.

If Hansen does not get up, or even if he does, would bringing in Daw be such a bad option against Natanui to back up Goldy?
Chances are we will get spanked in the ruck and probably lose the game if we go in as is.
Throwing Daw in there will be something they will not be planning for and I reckon he will be able to jump over Natanui (or atleast compete), giving us first use.
I think it could also throw their defence out when he is forward, as they will not have put much work into him.
Likely he will get subbed out in the 3rd quarter, but this could be the gutsy move that wins us a game we are widely tipped to lose.

He wouldn't be able to cope with the pressure.
Make no mistake this game will be intense.
Hopefully he will debut in early 2013.

Don't hate the idea. In a final of foreign turf there'll be so many other focusses that the hype would be diluted a bit. Which would of course reduce any commercial gain.

It's slightly different but Lachy returned to the seniors in 2007 for the hawks final after only a couple of games way earlier in the year by memory? He did ok, not sure this would be so different.
