Hasnt been the same since being knocked out in gf
Just making the howlers and it’s becoming consistent which is a worry
And the worst thing is despite the alarming drop in the quality of his football, he will not be dropped.Yep. It seems to me that the contest with Danger knocked any of the hardness and courage that Vlastuin had before it out of him. Seems not to crash in or go as hard as he used to since. His decision making and composure have also significantly dropped away.
Hate to say it but pretty sure he has copped a fair few big knocks and multiple concussions over his career, Has it taken its toll? I’m kind of worried about his long term healthYep. The problems really started with that Danger hit. I still have not seen him come back as good from that & it's now been 3 years.Hate to say it but pretty sure he has copped a fair few big knocks and multiple concussions over his career, Has it taken its toll? Just not the player he once was
at least clangerifeld copped a 6 week suspension for it. a tiny bit of justice for ruining vlastuinThe problems really started with that Danger hit. I still have not seen him come back as good from that & it's now been 3 years.
His numbers are still decent but his Decision making is not what it used to be. He seems to be taking players on far to often in general play, taking risky options, and is on a short fuse,Hate to say it but pretty sure he has copped a fair few big knocks and multiple concussions over his career, Has it taken its toll? Gives away silly free kicks some of them are soft & some not really there but some of them are obvious like last night pushin some flog over in stoppage no point. His numbers are still decent but his Decision making is not what it used to be. Like you I’m hoping the numerous concussions don’t cause any health issues down the track.
Tim Taranto was asked about Nick Vlastuin with his 200th game coming up and Tim mentioned that Phil Davies used to say Nick was one of the best defenders in the afl and very underrated.
perhaps an unpopular opinion but I think he needs to play forward next year to suit the team needs …..I think he would make a great forward with a combination of vlaustin lynch and Bauer as the talls …. Leave balta in defence
That’s what he has predominantly played as but I think he has what it takes to also play as a great forward ….. I think if we invest a full preseason in him as a forward he will really shine in 2024Not sure. He is a back I think.
I agree intercept defenders are important but we also need to be able to kick a winning score ….I think vlaustin forward and balta staying in defence is currently the right mix … maybe someone else is capable of playing vlaustin role?Intercepting defenders are more important than ever and Vlastuin is our 2nd best one. If we're going to send him forward we might as well just trade him to the bulldogs for a 1st rounder.
A forward line containing Martin, Lynch, Gibcus/Ryan, Cumberland and Baker should be able to kick a winning score...I agree intercept defenders are important but we also need to be able to kick a winning score ….I think vlaustin forward and balta staying in defence is currently the right mix … maybe someone else is capable of playing vlaustin role?
Depends on what the other team kicks though.A forward line containing Martin, Lynch, Gibcus/Ryan, Cumberland and Baker should be able to kick a winning score...
Yeah for sure. It would be nice if small forwards are actually allowed to play attacking footy under the new coach or if their priority will still be guarding space and pressuring....Depends on what the other team kicks though.
Gibcus Ryan cumbo even baker haven’t been consistent up forward.
