Didn't you praise Nickelback in your thread about the bands that used to be good?

'Nuff said. :)

No. No i did not. I said some of those bands used to make decent music, Nickelback obviously NOT being one of them.

that is such a crock of sh !t.
if anything its their most down-to-earth album since undertow.
your facade doesn't fool anyone. pseudo-inetellectual.

Nothing intellectual about it, it's the WORST tool albu, because the songs aren't as GOOD as the other albums.

I wish you prog-rock tw@ts would realise this. Albums still need to be made up of a lot of good songs to be good albums!

I reckon the songs aren't as good on Lateralus, which for all intents and purposes is far more prog rock (for us prog rock tw@ts) and is far more pretentious. Many tracks are very weak, based on what I would consider to be fairly "easy" jams for Tool and extended to basically act as filler, so they could get to that "pretentious" 79 minute mark.

10,000 Days for mine executes every track perfectly for what it is they're trying to achieve. It's not perfecct by any stretch, but it's a solid, brilliantly-produced album.

Eitherway rick, people are allowed to have an opinion different to yours without being abused for it.

wtf are you on about? I'm replying to some abuse, not instigating it. Anyone that think 10,000 days is NOT Tool's worst album has nfi.

What did I say to you to instigate a label of pretention?

Then the "prog rock tw@ts" was a general swipe at anyone who generally likes 10,000 days.

Again, this is indirect abuse!

Geez man, you really can't handle other people having a different opinion, can you?!

10 000 days for mine is definately the "slowest grower" of all their releases, in that is takes the most number of repeated listens to really get into.

Every listen reveals something new.

Just wondering, no one seems to have posted about the secret track on 10 000 days? I did have a link to a downloadable version of it, but must have deleted it a while back.

Something about playing Viginti Tres simultaneously with Wings for Marie pts 1 & 2 in a certain order - apparently if you get the timing right, you have an "8 piece" tool song. If you listen to Wings pts 1 & 2, there are areas that would seem to compliment each other fairly well, as well as having similar timings. Will have another hunt around to see if I can find something.

I've been a "sorta" Tool fan for 10+ years (since seeing them at Alternative Nation - anyone else remember that?). 10,000 Days made me really like them. Brilliant album, plenty of great songs and diversity. Haven't stopped listening to it for months.

Ah, here's a different link explaining the secret track a little better:

Never knew about this Mofra. Found a pre aranged mp3 and it works extremely well in parts, but is a bit overwhelming and muddled in the hevier sections of both of the Wings tracks. The ending though is so identical though that it leaves room for debate.

The bloke who runs Toolband said it was not true.

I'd like for it to be true though, as Viginti Tres is one track I've never been able to work out. It is definitely better suited underpinning the start of 10,000 Days!

There is a bit of debate about it - there are a few versions of it mixed and I think turning V.T. down in a couple of sections would work better.

I'm not sure it is accidental, despite what a few might say (funny reading teh start of this thread) Danny Carey isn't known for putting out an album full of standard time signatures and a couple of (small time) studio boffins have told me it's unlikely to have that level of synchronicity between the new mixes.

True that. Probably the argument would be that VT has no real time signature, and that Wings Part 1 & 2 is actually the same song.

You can find some Tool freaks who sight that there are 11 candlesticks next to Maynard in the 3D photos, and 13 next to Justin. Combined track 11:13.

The ending is so synced that I can't tell them apart (and I have to assume that the mp3 file wasn't doctored in anyway). The wave sound at the end of the combined track bears resemblance to the start of VT in a sence. Plus Part 2 always had a longer than usual break between it and The Pot.

Who knows. Like I said, I hope it's true, but there is cause for some doubt.

Very interesting. Im downloading it from http://www.snoopy.force9.co.uk/10000_Days_Secret_Megamix.mp3

right now and will have a listen. Cant say Ive got into this album to be honest as Ive only given it a few chances.. I'll pull it out again soon.

What caught my eye on another forum regarding this mix is the wave patterns of both songs.. they're almost identical.

On the other hand I think some people look for extra hidden meanings in things when their simply isnt any... Tool fans are notorious for this.

Eitherway, your opinion is highly valued around here, so thanks for the input.
Yes. I too wait with baited breath for the brilliantly worded pieces of modern literature that rizzo composes for the enjoyment of all and sundry.

I wish I didn't spend 20 dollars on this album. should have just downloaded it. And I buy a ltoi of albums, hell, I bought the sugababes latest album, and I feel better about that purchase than I do this one.

Well when Im saving pretty much every cent I earn to go overseas I dont want to spend any money on a ****ty album.

Especially if I wouldnt listen to it. Lateralus, Undertow, Aenima and Opiate now just sit taking up space in my CD collection as I never listen to them.
