What kind of contract will he sign to stay at north?

2nd year 2025 - contracted
3rd year 2026 - contracted
4th year 2027 - out of contract
5th year 2028 - expected start of tassie

Assuming LDU signs on for 1.2 p.a
Sheezel would have to be on heaps but would have been front loaded
Larkey & Simpkin would probably be average in the next coming years also with front loading

Tassie will offer Colby $1 mill plus p.a

I guess we have the benefit of that 2027 year where we can him heaps and Tassie aren’t even playing yet.

But it puts into perspective the juggle of the cap in future years.

Not even mentioning the Warlord who other Melbourne clubs would love to prise out with a contract we might struggle to match

We’ll lose one of em. When we are firing and up and going. There aint no way we are keeping em all. Gonna have to surrender one of em.

The AFL will do everything they possibly can to get him to Tassie. Even if he's not that keen to go back I think the offer might be too good. They'll double whatever we're offering, with ambassador roles and some other made up junk.

If we have some success and look like having more, then some may stay for a little less. Colby however will probably be able to write his own cheque with Tassie, he'll be the hardest to retain.

We just need to do some clever accounting with our 'franchise' players so the AFL don't 'cotton on'.. and we can 'zoom zoom' into more premierships..

What makes you so certain Duck. I would be amazed if we did there is so many ways these days to work through the salary cap without any dodge stuff which i believe is a myth these days anyway. All our top guys will be on very good money and with the success that is coming i just can't see it. But if you are right who does your gut say it will possibly be.

I think the Colby situation will play out like Josh Kelly at GWS. Won't want to leave chance of success for money.

Im not but if you look at past teams with high end midfield talent they usually lose one or two or lose their key pillars. It’ll be a tough place to manage when we are up and firing., if only we had the ability to make players ambassadors or give them internal positions or franchises.

We dont have what they have
It can still be done. Course, it's up to everyone to make the place an enjoyable, successful one to be at. but that's perfectly doable. Don't see the point in predicting these outcomes this far out, to be honest. I'm the first to put into words my fears about players' commitments when evidence appears to back it up, but this is needless mongering

It's still not impossible for both statements to be correct.

Boomer played the majority of his peak in historically one of the weaker North sides of the last 40 years (outside of this period of course)

McKercher is a potential Brownlow winner and perennial contender imo. Boomer only really had 1-2 seasons of that level imo, but obviously 10+ still at an elite level.

Lets see how he goes, I'm confident there's a chance McKercher could be the best North player of this era, which is saying something, given we have Sheezel, Wardlaw, LDU etc on the books.
What’s fos’s potential like ?

If he fulfills his potential in the next few years , it’ll be closer to 2 million and you wouldn’t blame him to take that sort of cash
Will be more than half a million a year in what we will offer
