I've watched the first half and he was very good. Didn't accumulate like he did last year but as you say, very effective in corridors and contests. He did work defensively too.
Yeah I was there and thought he was a little soft a couple of times, which wasn’t helped by the replay. But, his disposal was pretty good wasn’t it. That left peg is just a ripper.
Would love to see him bust a gut a little more though.

Young Colby has more talent in his pinky, than most in their whole body.
The kid will be fine, just having some growing pains and no one's development is perfect and linear.
Dropping him would have to be absolute last priority, he's too good not to be persevered with in the 1's while he works on his game.

Kinda shocked how quickly some posters have turned on him.

Saw some comments in another thread that he's been difficult to coach? Anyone have anymlte context for this? Hope we havent got another JHF situation on our hands here?

I watched the first half last night and he wasn't soft at all. Went in contests when it was his turn, tackled, and played well. I'm starting to think the dropped mark was more a result of "If I stuff this up they'll kick a goal" than "oh shit ... footsteps."

On rewatch he was one of our better players tbh. Certainly easily one of our better users for the day. A day in which we were making bad decisions and bad kicking constantly to curtail our ball winning dominance.

People seem to have that chip turnover in the wing stuck in their head and have applied it to his entire game for some reason.

FOS had a bad turnover at one point exiting the back half also.

Simpkin pretty much grounded or turned over almost every kick he had in space for the entire game on the rewatch. It was bad, very bad.

Powell uncharacteristically kicked about 3 grubbers straight to the opposition on clearance.

It really was just execution that cost us the 4 points. We killed them through the middle for 90% of the game with the exception of about 5 minutes to start the 4th.

Konstanty was probably the most promising. If he didn’t have that quiet patch in the second, he’d have had a complete game. Was tough, used the ball really really well, made great decisions and was excellent defensively. Easily one of the biggest positives.

There’s a lot to work with here. His pace and left foot kicking obviously add something much needed to the team.

His negatives are the semi-regular lack of defensive pressure but I’m thinking that this will improve. The other negative is being so one-sided, he really needs to work on his right foot kicking.

Loved his goal. Kicking and decision making still needs work but when it all comes together its going to be great to watch.

Still has that concerning short step when there's physicality around. That one handed attempt going with the flight, that shit flies in juniors where you have oodles of space but at AFL level you get found out.

In true damian fashion I'll find a flaw in such a positive moment.. But did the team not realize it was his first goal? they all didn't get around him. regardless amazing game and win.
Thought the same thing! Was very odd he wasn’t swamped..

Surely they know he hasn’t kicked a goal before? Players never get that wrong. Or he could just be not liked? :/

I didn't know that, I swear he kicked one last year. Maybe the team is the same lol
