100 Goals, when will it be done again?

^^ I was thinking the same thing.
Once Henderson starts clunking his marks it will be scary.

Expect regular bags of 4 every week + the occasional 6-8 bag

Only a Carlton supporter would expect this.
Look at the players that come close to 100 goals and Henderson has little in common with them at this stage. Come back when he kicks 80+ in a season.

J Riewoldt won't come close either.

LeCras with a good midfield and other forward options taking defenders could go close. Would have to be one of the best shots at the century for a small-medium forward in a long while. Could crack 90 if everything went to plan. Thats barely over a goal a quarter. But Jack Reiwoldt looks the best option right now.

Lance Franklin & Jack Reiwoldt seem to be the obvious choices to be the next to crack the tonne. If Bradshaw could stay fit I reckon he would be a chance as the delivery he gets from the Swans is pretty good & he is an accurate kick.

buddy franklin in 2011 if he plays closer to goal. i would put money on it if i was old enough. will do it in home&away season.

doubt jriewoldt will ever do it, 80-90 would be the most. maybe 100 if richmond make it to a grandfinal.

once GWS come in, there will be an extra couple of games for each team wont there? so maybe with even more games we may start to see it more often.
plus i think the next "super" team will come up with an attacking gameplan that smashes all the presses and zones etc

There seems to be a really widespread view on BigFooty that as a team gets better, their leading goal kicker will become more and more proficient. With the exception of Hawthorn 2008, I think it's really the opposite. Richmond got so few goals from options other than Riewoldt this year, you would think their improvement will come from spreading the load as is the trend in the 'modern' game.

Most of the top teams from the past few years, although they've had dominant key forwards, haven't been anywhere near the 100 goal mark (again excepting Franklin). I expect to see Jack Riewoldt, Le Cras, Brad Green etc do really well as their team gets better, but not 100 goals in a season.

Problem with predicting Riewoldt to do it is that Richmond have no other key forward for the oppositoin to worry about. So they can focus all their key defenders and all their attention on stopping him. Sure he's good, but nobody could kick 100 goals like that these days.

I honestly think it's the other way around - so much of Richmond's foward entries are directed at Riewoldt that surely he's going to have plenty of opportunity to get to 100 goals.

If Richmond had another gun forward then Riewoldt's opportunities diminish as they share the load.

If he's played deep - Franklin.

I don't think Jack Riewoldt is a 100 goal kicker. Even playing up the ground in 2010, Franklin averaged more goals than anyone else and would have won the Coleman if he didn't get suspended every second week.

An improved Hawthorn and playing closer to goal I reckon he'll give the ton a nudge in 2011.

Hard to predict, Buddy killed it 2 years ago, no one was talking about Jack this time last year.

Someone could pop up from anywhere.
Agree with this. We could have a surprise packet show up next year.

Having said that I can see Buddy and Jack as front runners, Roughead could do it if he got himself into 2008 form again. Remember he did kick 70+ goals as Buddy's 'sidekick'. More of an outside chance though.

Pffft Lecras will do it easy. He has proven that he can kick 12 goals in a game, so there is no reason why he can not score 266 goals in 2011 true?

How about the fact he would need to score at least 13 on two occasions?

The one's I see kicking it 100 in 2011 are any of...

Jack
Fev
Buddy
Nick
Can only see happening if we play Browny up the ground a little more (or he gets injured) and if our midfield can start to increase inside 50 kicking efficiency. Even then it would be a tough ask. I expect to see a higher midfield:forwards goal ratio next year, with goals in particular from Rich, Banfield (I think will be moved to midfield), Rockliff and Hanley. Possibly Polec and Green...

Slightly off topic.

But if I was to pick some guys (not to kick the tonne) but crop and do a "j.riewoldt" in the next year or two and kick 70+:

Tippett - Had a shocking year, Adelaide were in the pitts for a fair portion, but still showed glimpses. He is going to explode, even if for only 1 season. He reminds me alot of C.McKernan, plays nothing like him obviously, but just has the same dominating/fluxuating mecurial nature.

Hansen - Of the Norf variety, kicked close to 30 goals in the second half of the season after going forward, looks a natural forward; also has probably the best tank of any key forward bar N.Riewoldt, and one of the best sets of hands. He's going to be fed by a bloody good midfield too.
