Not sure how you can say "it looked like the leadership weighed heavily on Luke"??? He was always smiling.
No matter if he got out-marked, gave away a free kick, or the oppo walked into an open goal....the one guarantee was Luke had a smile on his face.

Not sure if you might be on the spectrum and unable to differentiate but most people would recognise that facial expression from Luke does not incorporate what's known as a Duchenne marker and is not a smile.
 
Viney made an interesting comment about the captaincy which got overlooked.

Chicken and egg - Jy and Luke were thanked for taking on the leadership during the tough times. They didn't avoid it - they embraced it.

It's easy to pin a poor team as the result of poor leaders. But it's pretty hard to look like a great leader leading a poor team. Simplistic to argue a great leader would mysteriously drag a club in shambles up the ladder.

The time was right but respect to Luke taking on the captaincy most probably knowing he'd be the figurehead during a pretty tough period.
