12 Secs before Half-Time - Walker kicking out

Well, the wind doesn't blow all the time, but instinct will dictate that you think "Hey, I've got the wind, boot the shit out of it".

The kick went about 55 metres off of three steps. Ebert marked it 65-70 out, midway between the boundary and the centre square - 'twas a decent kick, and was well placed.

No Port player would've been close enough to intercept had Russell jumped for the ball.

As for Bower being 17 metres away, you don't play shit footy like that when your team has kicked 6 of the last 7. Choco Williams (or a coach in under 12s, too) purposefully leaves that player free to 'hem' the opposition into the boundary line.

Walker played disciplined footy, irrellevant of the clock.

Yes I see what you're saying, but surely he wouldn't think we could get the ball from one end to the other within 12 seconds. He should've known roughly how much time was left because of the runner going out to inform them. Normally they do this with a minute left and If he didn't know then I'd be happy that he was trying to attack. That's why I'm saying if he knew he should've just kicked to Bower and let him hold it up and go in half time keeping the lead to where it was at rather than risk the opposition building momentum and cutting the deficit.

Sorry to bring up a negative after such as great win by the Blues but I really get frustrated by our small mistakes and hope that we can iron some of these out.

Don't know if anyone noticed on Sunday:

- We had played a great second quarter to 4 goals up.

- Less than a minute to play Port surge forward, have a shot at goal and miss.

- Approx: 12 seconds left on the clock.

- Walker kicks out - instead of being told to go short and milk the clock (ie. the temp football we have been practising) he bombs it long.

- Ball marked by Port player who short passes back to Dean Bogan 20 metres out as the siren sounds.

I nearly put my fist through the TV - just a very simple error that could have ruined a great quarter for us.

Fortunately, Bogan being the weak pr$&k that he is, misses and we got away with it.

I know it's only in-experience but god I wish we could get these errors out of our game !!

Will SOS help ?? :)
I noticed the same thing and against top sides will would of got punished.what about fev playing on 1 metre out and missing lucky he got the ball back

So it was a decision making error in terms of direction, not in terms of shot selection so to speak.

Could the wind have had a bearing?

If we are to isolate errors from Sunday, we'd be here a long long time.
Let's just put it all down to the flukey wind this time around.

Way too many times we kicked to outnumbered positions - either poor decision making or lack of options/running in my book

Move along, nothing to see here.

A decision that may or may not have been the best option, made in pretty average footballing conditions and that didn't result in an opposition score is not really worth a thread is it?

People seeking to close threads need to start a lot more themselves
