Well, the wind doesn't blow all the time, but instinct will dictate that you think "Hey, I've got the wind, boot the shit out of it".
The kick went about 55 metres off of three steps. Ebert marked it 65-70 out, midway between the boundary and the centre square - 'twas a decent kick, and was well placed.
No Port player would've been close enough to intercept had Russell jumped for the ball.
As for Bower being 17 metres away, you don't play shit footy like that when your team has kicked 6 of the last 7. Choco Williams (or a coach in under 12s, too) purposefully leaves that player free to 'hem' the opposition into the boundary line.
Walker played disciplined footy, irrellevant of the clock.
Yes I see what you're saying, but surely he wouldn't think we could get the ball from one end to the other within 12 seconds. He should've known roughly how much time was left because of the runner going out to inform them. Normally they do this with a minute left and If he didn't know then I'd be happy that he was trying to attack. That's why I'm saying if he knew he should've just kicked to Bower and let him hold it up and go in half time keeping the lead to where it was at rather than risk the opposition building momentum and cutting the deficit.
