I’ve got him in 👍
Twice!

Agree. Look at our best 22 for most of this year and he is easily pushing out a handful of players - which is exactly what we want. Those developing then need to prove themselves in the VFL and stake a claim. We have been gifting spots to way too many players for too long. Not just developing players either. Logue deals with a similar issue in his role, with obviously more credentials.

Has the kind of high ball drop that makes it look like he's always kicking on his opposite. Doesn't seem to impact accuracy though. Look forward to what he brings to the club!

Wow, I came on to say exactly the same thing about his ball drop! It's rather weird and very careful looking. It really does look like both sides are his opposite foot. Fingers crossed that it holds up under pressure.

Good bit about pressure is that it looks like he's up for the contest, some nice tackles in there.

Midfielder Darcy Tucker is bound for Arden Street after the 25-year-old was traded to the Kangaroos along with teammate Griffin Logue.

Drafted with Pick 27 in the 2015 draft, Tucker played 108 games for the Dockers. Although his time at Fremantle has been injury plagued, missing most of the 2020 season due to a hamstring injury.

The move to Arden Street is in search of more opportunities at AFL level after only making 14 appearances in the purple for 2022, two of which was as the medical sub.

Adding experience

Going into this year’s trade period, North Melbourne’s priority was looking to bring in some more experienced players as it looks to climb up the ladder in 2023 and beyond.

Tucker fits that bill, having played over 100 games of AFL footy, bringing plenty of experience into what is a young North Melbourne side.

Having been in the AFL system for seven years now, Tucker has learnt from some of the game’s best in Nat Fyfe and David Mundy, so he’ll be able to bring that to Arden street next season both on and off the field.

Tucker provides some much-needed midfield depth into the North Melbourne side.

While at Fremantle, Tucker spent a lot of time playing on the wing when in the AFL side, he also can play that inside midfielder role as that big-bodied midfielder.

Tucker can bring plenty to a struggling North Melbourne side, with the 25-year-old known for his footy smarts and ability to weave in and out of traffic with ease, which he has shown at both AFL level and WAFL level.

Tucker is also known for his high-pressure game, able to either lay a tackle or force the turnover for his side, as well as a penetrating left foot that can send the ball inside forward 50 with ease.

Tucker can also float forward and impact the scoreboard, which was shown during his time playing for Peel Thunder playing in the WAFL in 2022.

Combining with the likes of Luke Davies-Uniacke, Bailey Scott, and Jye Simpkin down at Arden Street, the addition of Tucker could take the North Melbourne midfield to a new level.

Darcy Tucker = the I hardly know her

Don't rate him hugely, certainly not as thrilled with his acquisition as Logue's, but hopefully he's an ok contributor. Saw a comment above likening him to Higgo that was almost definitely tongue in cheek, but anyway. Forget that mate, he doesn't have even a fraction of Higgo's silk. He can kick a long goal though, and from what limited vision I've had of him, he's a reasonable field kick. Go well mate

Darcy Tucker = the Ian Mosses Daughter.

Where does this Elly McInerney get off - writing actual reasoned content?

Swans got all the way into the GF with someone like Clarke, a hard working kid we let go and he was more effective for them than some big name players.

Our problem with Scott was he filled the side with workers and we lacked star power, but you need solidly built hard workers who will just go all game. I think we wanted him regardless if Logue was coming or not. We have a lot of good young talent in our side but they go missing, a lot, they are young and inexperienced, putting too many of them around the ball with the style Noble wanted and the physical conditioning has been a recipe for disaster.

I am happy to see him here and hope he fits in well and can adapt quickly, most mature players take a year or so before they click with a new system and teammates but I hope it is a quick transition.
