Re: 13,342

Are you? If you get a bill ofr $150k and you can't pay it, where does the money come from?

Grease Guy : Four pounds of grease...that comes to 63 cents.
Homer : Woo Hoo.
Bart : Dad, all that bacon cost 27 dollars.
Homer : Yeah, but your mom payed for that.
Bart : But doesn't she get her money from you.
Homer : And I get my money from grease, what's the problem.

Re: 13,342

Existance is #1 priority.

Then it's a god thing for your mob that the AFL doesn't relocate clubs based on failure to succeed on field, or else your number would soon be coming up.

Re the Collingwood loss last year, and the hotel deals that caused it, we got rid of the bloke responsible for that. You idiots made him CEO.

Got rid of him? Bit of revisionism in there, methinks.

:D

Re: 13,342

They want to play Friday nights only I think.....:D

sad really. can keep making excuses to why they dont turn up to games.

If the AFL gifted the NMFC with three flags via salary cap concessions we would probably have more people turn up to our games.

Oh well. We will just have to keep earning Premierships the honest way.

Re: 13,342

I haven't gone through the thread, but why did the OP lie about the crowd?

14,342 isn't great, but that's the official figure. Distorting it wont help your case.

I really don't understand the mentality of anti-north trolls.

Re: 13,342

i've always liked north melbourne probably my second side. i think the criticism is a bit unfair.

that being said the afl really needs to remove two clubs from victoria, (i think the afl knows this but doesnt want to let on whilst the gold coast and western sydney teams have not settled in). relocating to the gold coast is out of the question now that they have a team, and going to canberra is probably out of the question now that the western sydney team is coming along. what i could see happening is a victorian team merging with any of the above two if any problems come up, ala brisbane bears. this will happen to western sydney before it happens to the gold coast.

if the merge does happen the "city/place/suburb" name of the team cant cary over to the new team (otherwise why bring in a new team at all). so if that was to happen north melbourne would be the perfect candidate, given that the name kangaroos is very marketable. moving melbourne wouldnt not be viable given that melbourne its self is very marketable (debatable).

so my personal opinion is that in the next 20 years:
1) north melbourne will either merge with melbourne and be called the melbourne kangaroos, relocate to darwin, or merge with western sydney,
2) melbourne will either merge with the kangaroos, western bulldogs or richmond,
3) tasmania will enter the comp (when tasmania comes in, two vic clubs will have to merge or one will merge with another non vic club),
4) darwin will enter the comp (either by relocation or a merge to make way for them).

Re: 13,342

How many members do they have? Where the heck were they. A Saturday night game. Poor showing by the supporters not to support the club imo.

Yer but it's not really relevant to quote the membership tally to show a comparison on what sort of crowd figures you could expect, maybe a certain % of North fans buy Multiple Memberships to show support for their club.

Re: 13,342

Thanks dude, but that still doesn't fully explain it to me. We've got this thread that's based on a distorted figure and then we've got the Gold Coast relocation argument, that always go's back to the incredibly dishonest $100 million line.

Why do people keep bullshitting in an effort to kill a football club? I'll never understand what motivates people to do that.

look in your own backyard sunshine. we have more members than you and we're on the bottom of the ladder. what the **** is your excuse?

Re: 13,342

Merger, relocation, folding. Same shit ... the NMFC dies.
Well if you don't want that then get your pissweak supporters to do something about it. Like attend matches.

Pretty simple stuff.

Re: 13,342

Why is it so low when they have about 30,000 members?

I've made a thread relating to this recently.

For some vic fans, they are more interested in a game that involves their own team, if another victorian team is playing, compared to a non-vic team.

Why? Because they have no interest in the non-vic clubs, however with other vic clubs there is a history of rivalry.

All this despite their own team still playing regardless.

This is part of the reason why these types of crowds are lower than they otherwise would be.

Re: 13,342

I don't understand why members of this site get so much enjoyment out of sticking the boots into a club and their supporters at a time when they are struggling financially. Comments like 'how funny will it be when they fold' and 'put them out of their misery' do not achieve anything. Similarly, why bother pointing the finger at North supporters on this site? I'll have a stab and say that if you're passionate enough about footy to sign up to a forum so that you can talk about it all week, you're probably passionate enough to buy a membership and get along to watch your side. North supporters on BigFooty aren't the problem.

Additionally, it should be remembered that, with the possible exception of Essendon, just about every other Victorian based club has encountered serious financial difficulties at some point in the last two decades. To this end, it's pretty frustrating to see supporters of my own club (and most others) finding a humorous side to North's present financial issues when many of our own clubs have been down the same road before. Personally, if I wasn't able to watch my team each week (and I'm not suggesting North supporters are genuinely faced with this prospect, contrary to the alarmists in this thread), I'd be devastated. Selfishly, I don't want to see less Victorian clubs either, because it results in more Hawthorn games being played interstate meaning I'll get to see fewer games live.

In any case, plenty of people remember the way the AFL treated Fitzroy and their supporters in their final few years, and I think it's pathetic that anybody would wish that on another club and their supporters. No passionate supporter deserves to lose their footy club. That aside, the idea that North's future is some sort of foregone conclusion is also ridiculous. A stadium deal where they saw 75-80c from every dollar, as opposed to 30-35c as it currently stands, would go a hell of a long way toward rectifying their current situation.
