people will be quick to jump on Zerk but just noting Ridley had Hawkins for at least 2
And Hawkins did kick 4 off the back of some pretty ordinary turnovers by us that left BZK exposed one on one.

Didn't see the game, wasn't Zerk any good on a opponent?

I'm shocked.

I wonder how many 1v1s CD had him in, etc.
Hawkins rag dolled him but Hawkins would have done the same to anyone in the comp given the amount of one on one chances he got with limited pressure on the ball coming in at times. Not BZK's one wood to be having a continual one on one wrestle with a monster.

What is his one wood? A poor man's Jake Lever?

The problem was that Zek-Thatcher should have been moved after Hawkins third goal - If BZT is being beaten on the lead with minimal pressure upfield then that's fine BUT once he was rag-dolled then the move had to be made.

So that Ridley could be rag dolled as well ? the reason Hawkins did not kick 12 was we managed to stop the supply line from around the 20 minute mark of the first quarter.

That's convenient.
Sorry. That was a bit of a low blow. I just think he has been okay so far this year and late last year. Has improved in my book.

Has a footballer ever ended up being further away from what we initially thought he would be!

I thought he was an explosive but flighty inside 50 forward…..turns out he’s an undersized, defensive warrior who plays through huge hits and never ,ever shirks.

Not the 100 games we thought we’d get but cannot question that they have been well earned.

Congrats Lav - only a few years ago I wouldn't have dreamed you'd get to 100.

Play well and I hope we get a win for you.

An Essendon supporter saying he's a 100 gamer at his club of support.

The way to 100 isn't something you can say you've have a straight path towards but no 2 paths are the same and none are linear.

Thanks for picking Boekhorst, Carlton.

For a long time, I thought the club stuffed up by trying to play Langford on the ball and Laverde up forward. I thought very strongly that Laverde had the make-up to be an explosive strong midfielder and that Langford was a forward. I was right about Langford, but Laverde is good as a backman, which is the last thing I would have predicted for him. He obviously has never built the tank to be mid.

If you're not being sarcastic, Laverde could potentially play as a defensive midfielder, but he would never be a ball-winner offensive forward.

Not being sarcastic.

He started life brash and largely able to do what he wanted.

But he got slowly ground down by injury and then having to play as an undersized key forward, never really having established himself.

I very much doubt that he would be the same version of the forward we saw play in 2019 and 2020. It's a vicious cycle when there is no confidence.

I agree with that. There is so much that is determined by fitness and continuity in the early stages of a career.
