Didn't watch the game but generally get the impression Laverde is a bit more invested than Langford. I think he'll get a few weeks to adjust to and get a taste of the pace of things at the next level and assess where he's at after that.

I'm honestly not sure if this is a pisstake or not. 6'2 90kg small forward? Surely he's more likely as a 3rd/4th tall or a big mid

Disregarding the fact he will quite obviously be a midfielder, which most would have as our biggest hole to fill in the next 2 years.

He is comfortably in front of Green when fit.

Well why'd he come in for Green then? If he's supposed to be a midfielder he sure didn't get much of the ball in a contested game.

Young kid with little continuity due to injury plays forward with long term midfield plans? Dud, delist. Guys like Dangerfield, Ablett, Fyfe, Martin played midfield from day one didn't they?

He came in for Green because he was the best performed in the 2s and we didn't have another crumber ready to go. Honestly thought he offered just as much and would be happy to leave him in once Green is fit.

I don't care about possessions, I think he just got lost in the role. Was out of position a lot to my eye.

But again, first game for a fair while, I'm not saying drop him.

Under-performed but I think that is to be expected as it's a big step up in class from VFL to AFL. I would imagine he will get at least one or two more games to impress and then if he doesn't will be replaced by Green. For his sake and ours I hope he does step up because more depth is exactly what we need leading up to the finals. Ruthless competition for spots can only assist in building a strong culture.

If he doesn't step up then he should quite rightly go back to VFL to continue to work on his craft.

What does this mean?

From what Ive seen & read since they were drafted langford doesn't seem to have the same competitive drive that laverde has. Can't remember which game it was but a cpl times he had possession on the wing one on one and was far too happy to run the ball out rather than look to link up or take oppo on. It really stuck out to me when I saw it. He's not desperate enough around ground ball contest too. Woosh wouldn't like that hence vfl, laverde I think will get a few weeks in the 1s. Just a theory...
