A contact of mine is in Paul's family.

Apparently Carlton were in the box seat to get him, but a nth presentation to his family was impressive and swung it our way last week.

Apparently knee is recovering well and he'd have him coming back to full training earlier than is being reported, but a longer timeframe is being stated publicly to manage expectations.

While our recent coaches haven't been the greatest matchday coaches going around, they have had killer powerpoint presentation skills.

I guess you have to rate losing Wells into the equation. I'd give us a B-. Losing Wells for 32 was a shame, if it was 19 then that would have been another matter. There's also a degree of speculativeness to all of our acquisitions, injury recover for Ahern and Hrovat, form for Williams that has to be appreciated. But those three plus three top 35 draft picks is surely a good outcome after an ugly end to an ugly season.
