Oh also forgot this stat too!

28/9/1912 - 23/9/1922

Essendon did not play in any finals!

So how can u say Essendon would have won the flag if it wasnt for ww1

I never said that. I simply said that Essendon has been in the comp for 102 years and Carlton have been in it for 104. 102 divide by 16 is better than 104 divided by 16. So, Essendon have a slight edge over Carlton

"..So, we have a better strike rate than then, meaning that when the premiership table is drawn, Essendon will be on top. It's a bit like being on top by percentage"

Actually Dan,sorry to say,but I believe Adelaide's 2 flags in 10 years would put them on top of the premiership ladder on percentage!

Sorry to butt in on this little love in, but something needs to be pointed out.

My friend Daniel has actually made a good point during the thread, that Essendon's 16 flags have come in less time than Carlton's. Therefore, statistically, Essendon have won more premierships on a standardised basis.

Which leads me to the conclusion that no Adelaide supporters have read this thread:

Adelaide 2/10 - 20.00%
Essendon 16/102 - 15.69%
Carlton 16/104 - 15.38%
West Coast 2/14 - 14.29%
Collingwood 14/104 - 13.46%
Hawthorn 9/76 - 11.84
Richmond 10/93 - 10.75

And of course, Adelaide won their flags with more teams in the competition, which according to Daniel makes them harder to win.

Adelaide have also never lost a Grand Final (to Collingwood, Essendon or anyone), so there's no need for deductions.

So it is indisputable that Adelaide is the most successful team in the history of the AFL.

I have to go and cry somewhere now.

That's better The Facts.

See, what a difference it makes when you Essendon supporters take the time to read the thread properly instead of jumping on the bandwagon.

Did that extra week off upset you too?
You must have been sooooo rested you were unable to do what every other club has done to Collingwood in a Grand Final.
That makes Essendon unique!

16 - 15 petal.

And speaking of petals, Dan-delion, when they do this non-sensical tally of yours do they take into consideration wooden spoons?

You boys must be spewing. Just 48 hours ago you had all the answers. Now you're just splashing about like fish out of water.

Sorry wrong topic. I thought 16-14 were referring to the Essendon supporters age. But everything is going quite well at the club. Despite our poor performances we made a profit last year unlike many clubs in the competition. We still have a loyal membership base.

The property was a good idea except for the fact that they sold at the wrong time. They should have held onto the property for longer.

I thought you'd nodded off wendyhell!

Tell me, this unhealthy obsession you appear to have with money wouldn't have anything to do with Essendon needing to buy new & better players?
Maybe a CHB. I'm not sure Lucas is the answer!

hehehehe.

I don't count Adelide yet, because they havn't been in the competiton long enough to make a realistic compariso with success. it's a bit like saying the melbourne Storm are the most successful Rugby team of all time (1 out of 3).

I mean, come one people........we have to use common-sense here too. Adelaide have missed the finals 7 times in 10 years and have never finished higher than 4th on the ladder.

Common-sense. I reckon, you have to be in the comp for a minimum of 20-25 years before the comparisons become realistic.

What is amusing is that essendon has won two flags since 1990, and collingwood have done nothing, not even won a final since then.
