Our small forwards work as a team applying manic defensive pressure to cause turnovers and scoring opportunities.
George is working his but off, Aarts is cracking in giving 110%,both performing their roles.
Rioli is bludging on those guys and the rest of the team and last night it cost us.

Time for Dimma to forget Daniel’s his second son grow some balls and drop him. For Christ sake Bolton was dropped after a string of good performances yet Rioli continues to serve up pea hearted performances every week

Needs to learn another position. Put him on a wing or half back flank or something.

who would have thought three years ago that out of Butler, Rioli and Castagna, Castagna wouldhave been the our best mosquito fleet forward
What position does he play now? Not even performing as a decoy at the moment.

Doesnt matter what is said on here....he will continue to get a game. Dimma luvs him. Simple as that.
Hope that doesn’t stop him from making the right call. Premiership coaches have always put faith in players who have performed on the big stage but Rioli has well and truly used up his credits.
Continuing to play him at the moment is probably detrimental to his career you can see his confidence waning every game

This isn’t going to be an overly popular comment but I feel he’s been better over the last two weeks.

He’s still not at the level we expect or require from him but his crashing and tackling has been getting better.

With Bolton and Higgins playing a lot of time on the ball we don’t have the same volume of small forwards that were usually accustomed too. Because of this I’m alright for the club to continue to persist with him. I also think the compacted fixtures will help a player with his endurance levels.

He's been marginally better the last two weeks, but still a long way off.

Still think something is up.

From a football perspective, I'd play Stack up forward instead.

Couldn’t be helped but don’t we all wish we had a Butler or Stengle on the list now...
Stengle played 2 games in 2019, and its only with Betts leaving is he getting a game in 2020. Butler was in and out of the side in 2019 only playing 7 games. Our team went unbeaten in the latter part of the 2019 season so he couldn't break into the team. Personally I think small fwd is a tough position to play well in. Butler is starring at a new club which is up and about. Due to COVID and other reasons, the midfield is decimated, and our fwd line is so dysfunctional I don't think Butler would've made a bit of difference. Rioli, Stack, Higgins, Aarts Baker can play the role for us.
I'm stoked for all players who leave us and get opportunity & then play well. I'm also happy Rioli is not playing. Do a few weeks thinking about the game & come back fresh, & give another player a shot

We'll do that and you'll be back here August next year when he's leading the Coleman going 'why tf did we let him go man kicked 4 in a prelim was worth 3 first rounders and Clarko minimum'

Geez we aim low. Personally i would preder an Eddie betts type or a toby Greene most weeks good for a couple of goals or more and they do the defensive stuff as well.

Theres nothing that says your small fwd to apply pressure doesnt need to worry about doing his primary role of kicking goals.
None of our small fwds can be considered very good forwards, because they simply dont kick enough goals.
