Traded #17: Jake Melksham - Traded to Melbourne for pick 25

So one decent half season - not even a very good half season. About on par with Melksham. I thought he was close to worst on ground on the weekend by the way.

He wasn't that bad and he played pretty well last season too anyway. As for the weekend was his only average game and even then it wasn't Melksham level bad!

Fyfe was a reach at pick 20 really.

In hindsight, Freo probably identified him as a 15 year old and hid him away.

Want the only one though! Imagine our team with say the outside run of Lewis Jetta...and he wasn't speculative everyone knew him!

Apparently Fremantle weren't decisive on him, he was 'too skinny' and they were contemplating Bastinac. Still a shame though, if we walked away from that draft with both Fyfe and Carlisle it would have like robbing a bank with a staple gun.

Well yeah, but it would have been a disastrous 3 years on here with flogs like bombersnoidea carrying on because we'd drafted Fyfe instead of one of the favoured candidates like Melksham or Lucas.

Bombersno1, let me know when Pittard finishes top 5 in the B&F. Actually top 10 will do. #shortmemories

He would probably be in the top 10 this year. I am guessing you have watched dead set 1 of Port's games his season. I watch all their games, actually play good quick footy (take note EFC...you win moving the ball quick)

What is funny about this is I live in Adelaide and have a soft spot for Port. I can't avoid Port or Crows matches and media even if I wanted too.

Pittard has improved significantly but it has even been said by Hinkley that they take the "good" with the "bad" with Pittard.

Port's best players would be:
Gray
Lobbe
Boak
Carlisle
Ebert
Polec
Wingard
Trengove
Hombsch
Schulz
Cornes
Wines
White...

I refuse to believe the sentiment that he is a spud. He is out of form and should not have been selected, but what he did last year cannot have been a fluke. Come on Jake, rise above your own disposal!

Anybody who suggests he's a spud has nfi. A spud is a bloke completely devoid of talent/application. That's not his problem (right now). I think he's trying too hard, that he knows he's out of form and wanting to fix that desperately. Honestly, he needs to relax a bit.

Posted last year that he needed half a season in the VFL to work on his game. A long stint in the VFL should allow him to get more SOLIDITY into his game.

Exactly.. he was NEVER forced to go back and really learn his craft.. he basically came into the team day 1.. has something on the coach.. and has never left.. despite numerous patches of spud games.. more often than not.

I'm not saying I would auto-trade him.. but what would a month in the VFL hurt? Let him get some confidence, work on disposal and maybe get a wake up call..

Personally I don't care where he is.. as long as it isn't losing us games from turnover after turnover..
