If he gets through this weekend ok then he has to play.

His 5 weeks off this season is plenty different to last year. He did every session this year and his fitness is well ahead of last year.

Agree. If he can get through a full game with no issues and we think his form is up to scratch then do it. I'm comfortable either way.

He must be in good shape to be played this week - if there was a major doubt, surely he'd play VFL the week after. To me once he's cleared for VFL there is no question of delaying to be on the safe side. If he plays this week and pulls up without worry, then as clearly our best fullback he plays R1.

If he gets through the VFL game with flying colours then why not play him?

Yep, with an emphasis on the "with flying colours" bit though. If he proves he's ready then he's ready afaic but how he pulls up from the game and how he trains the week after must be included in that appraisal.

You guys wanting to see him in must have short memories.

Last year I remember him not even having the energy to swing his leg through properly to hit a target 15m away by foot in the 3rd quarter.
The footy rolled along the ground 3m from his boot.

No possible way i want to see things like that again and with a medial it is very hard to get any fitness in.

If he plays and we get beat then there will be some of the blame and his confidence level back to last year after round 1.

The difference being that last year he didn't have any training behind him at all before he played due to his recurring back injury from very early in the preseason.

This year he had a full preseason before the injury which was 4 weeks ago, the bulk of which is fitness based. He would have had some training in the last week or so to be even considered for this weekends game so I reckon he is in far, far better shape than at any stage last year.

IF he plays this weekend, and IF he passes with flying colours, then he plays against the bombers. Narni is best 22.

Narni has had a huge preseason! He right back up in front of all the running and time trials. This is a lot different from last when he came
In with about 3 weeks pre-season behind him. The medial injury wouldn't have hurt his aerobic conditioning to the point where he would blow up in the 3rd quarter like some people are suggesting.

The biggest worry for me is that he will risk soft tissue damage of he plays on the weekend then has a 5 day turnaround to play against the bombers. After having no match practice, playing two games in relatively short succession of one another is a big risk.

He is absolutely vital to our backline structure and I would take the risk if he was 80 - 90% of full fitness (match) as he is a very fit guy naturally.
What is the word on him?

He could’ve played this week but we wanted to give him some extra time and get some more conditioning into him,” North director of sports science and rehabilitation Peter Mulkearns told kangaroos.com.au.

Club just being cautious with him. As you said, Narni is vital in our backline structure, doesn't need to play VFL to earn a spot in the side.

I'm sure he'll be right for Saturday night.

I would have been all for it if I hadn't seen how poorly he performed last year after being brought back prematurely. I'd be more inclined to take a chance with Cam Delaney. Fully fit and in decent form. His body may not be quite AFL ready yet, but he didn't look out of place at all against the Dogs.

But depending on how tall Essendon go, Hansen, Thompson and Firrito might be enough height down back.

I reckon even sister Hollie Grima would make a difference atm.

HG - can defend and will fight to the death over the contested ball!

how many times does it have to be said our defence is not the problem?
when we are turning the ball over like that 6 glen archers wouldnt stand a change beating their man.
our midfield is terrible at the moment and there is not much quality to come in

Agree..
Our defence has been bloody good this year in general considering the amount of ball has has been pumped in there!

Love Scotty Thompson..if not for him today gee it could have been very very ugly

Like all our Biguns, looks like she's about to be molested in the contest.

Who does he play on today?

He's a key defender, no? Which one of our key forwards had a gamebreaking effect?

If anything, Scott McMahon would have been good to take the medium/small Dickson.

This is so true..........but its time to give some other lesser lights a chance.
What is wrong with Wells is there anyone here that knows the answer?? he isnt match fit, he has been doing everything apart from the physical stuff preseason but this isnt the excuse. Give a player like Gibson a chance to freshen up the team we need some spark back into the side.

CHANGE THE SPARK PLUGS NOW!!

Grima in for younger Delaney

Its amazing with how were being playing were only letting through 15 goals a game. Thats under 4 a quarter.
Once the nuffies in the middle get their act together (if and when) our defence will reap the rewards. Atley and Wright have come on this year. They are CONSISTENT. Our midfield is hot and cold. A mid 2000s Shannon Grant and Jess Sinclair would be so valuable to our team. A forward that hits target and kick goals aswell as a tough half back who can use the footy and provide run.

I think we need to debut a player properly this week. With no LTI in place dont know if well see Gibson or any other rookies. How McKenzie started sub is mind boggling. He should play from the start next week.
